The Reviewing Officer for the parade was Air Marshal Vijay Kumar Garg, AVSM, VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the importance of fearless leadership and innovation in the face of evolving technological challenges. โ€œAs young leaders, you are the backbone of our technical expertise. Be fearless in your pursuit of excellence and uphold the values of the Indian Air Force,โ€ he urged.

The ceremony featured a meticulously executed parade, with cadets marching in perfect unison as helicopters thundered overhead. It highlighted AFTCโ€™s commitment to training engineers in cutting-edge technologies related to aircraft, weapon systems, and support infrastructure. Established on July 4, 1949, in collaboration with the Air Service Training Corps, UK, AFTC has evolved into a premier Category-A training establishment.

International Collaboration and Global Outlook

The graduation of 13 international officers from 10 countries reflects Indiaโ€™s growing stature as a hub for aerospace education and training. This trend aligns with a 15% rise in international military collaborations since 2020, as reported in a 2023 Journal of Defense Studies report. Foreign dignitaries present at the ceremony underscored AFTCโ€™s global partnerships and its role in fostering cross-border cooperation.

Academic Excellence and Training

The collegeโ€™s curriculum is designed to instill military leadership, managerial skills, and the ethos of an air warrior. Delivered by a faculty of specialists, many holding PhDs or M.Tech degrees from IITs, IISc, and DIAT, it ensures graduates are equipped to handle the complexities of modern warfare while contributing to Indiaโ€™s drive for self-reliance in defense technology.

A Call for Integrity

While the ceremony celebrated achievements, it also came against the backdrop of ongoing discussions on accountability in defense projects. Air Marshal Garg urged officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics, indirectly addressing concerns related to integrity in defense procurement.

Looking Ahead

The graduation of the 105th Aeronautical Engineering Course reinforced the AFTC motto, โ€œGyanen Shobamaheโ€ (Excellence Through Knowledge). As India continues to modernize its defence infrastructure, the role of institutions like AFTC will be crucial in developing a technologically advanced and self-reliant military. With leaders like Air Marshal Garg guiding them, the Indian Air Force is well-prepared to meet future challengesโ€”one fearless engineer at a time.
