Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, visited the Adani Defence and Aerospace facility in Hyderabad, reaffirming the Indian Army’s focus on indigenisation under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
During the visit, Lt. Gen. Seth reviewed advanced indigenous technologies, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), drones, counter-drone systems, missiles, small arms, and defence electronics. He lauded Adani Defence for its role in strengthening India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing and positioning the nation as an emerging global hub.
Adani’s Hyderabad facility, home to India’s first private UAV manufacturing unit, is a cornerstone of this transformation. It produces advanced carbon composite aero-structures for UAVs like the Hermes 900 and collaborates with global partners while supporting MSMEs to boost indigenous innovation.
Lt. Gen. Seth’s interaction with company executives underscored the need to harness local expertise for operational superiority. His observations follow similar remarks at Aero India 2025, where he praised the growing ecosystem of indigenous platforms.
Defence experts say the visit highlights the synergy between government policy and private-sector innovation, which could further reduce foreign dependency and advance India’s strategic autonomy.
