The Infantry School in Mhow has successfully concluded its Mortar (JN) Course on September 17, with 13 international students from Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka training alongside Indian Army personnel. The programme underscored growing regional military cooperation, rooted in longstanding pacts such as the 1950 Indo-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship, which includes provisions for mutual defence collaboration.
The closing ceremony showcased the course’s focus on battlefield effectiveness, precision fire support, and operational safety—skills deemed critical for modern warfare. Naik Surendra KC was awarded Overall Best Student, while Corporal Prakash Singh Air from the Nepali Army was honoured as Best Foreign Student. Outstanding participants also received trophies and certificates in recognition of their performance.
Global studies, including a RAND Corporation report, highlight that advanced artillery training can reduce error rates by up to 30%, reinforcing the need for such rigorous courses.
The Infantry School continues to play a vital role in preparing soldiers for complex operational environments, with the 2025 Mortar Course reflecting India’s commitment to military excellence and international collaboration.
