Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva, Chief of Staff (COS) of Surya Command, visited forward areas in the Kumaon Sector to oversee Op Kavach validations, evaluate operational readiness, and assess the induction of Next-Generation Equipment (NGEs) aimed at enhancing troop combat effectiveness in the high Himalayas.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sachdeva interacted with soldiers and commended their courage, innovation, and operational excellence, reaffirming the Army’s ethos of “Service Before Self.”
The COS also reviewed ongoing Op Sadbhavna initiatives, which focus on education, healthcare, and sustainable tourism-led development in border areas. These programs aim to empower local communities while preserving the region’s spiritual and natural heritage, strengthening both security and socio-economic growth in the strategically sensitive region.
