NSG Commando Summits Mt Satopanth Ahead of Everest 2026 Mission

Displaying unmatched endurance and determination, a 12-member team from the National Security Guard (NSG) has successfully scaled Mount Satopanth (7,075 metres) as part of its Pre-Everest Expedition conducted from 13 to 24 October 2025.

The expedition, led by Major Akhilesh Bhatt, is a major preparatory milestone for the elite counter-terrorism force’s forthcoming Mt Everest Expedition 2026, symbolising the NSG’s indomitable spirit and operational readiness beyond conventional domains.

Mt Satopanth, located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, is known for its treacherous weather, steep ascents, and glacial terrain — posing a formidable challenge even for seasoned mountaineers. Overcoming extreme cold, high-altitude fatigue, and unpredictable avalanches, the NSG climbers demonstrated exceptional teamwork, discipline, and resilience — qualities that define the Black Cats.

The climb also aimed to enhance the team’s high-altitude endurance, leadership coordination, and mission preparedness, vital for future extreme-environment operations. The expedition serves as both a test and testament of the NSG’s physical and psychological endurance under high-risk conditions.

The successful summit of Mt Satopanth reaffirms the National Security Guard’s commitment to excellence and its motto — “Sarvatra Sarvottam Suraksha” (Best Security Everywhere). With the Everest 2026 mission now on the horizon, the NSG continues to push boundaries, setting new benchmarks in courage, training, and national pride.
