Lieutenant General Rajiv Kumar Sahni, AVSM, VSM, PhD, Director General of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (DGEME) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of EME, visited the Kharga Corps to review ongoing initiatives in operational preparedness, technology integration, and equipment sustenance.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sahni was briefed on the Corps’ efforts to enhance combat readiness through advanced maintenance practices and indigenous technological solutions. He took special note of the Kharga Corps Drone Hub, where troops showcased innovations in drone design, development, and fabrication, demonstrating the Corps’ growing capability in integrating unmanned systems into operational environments.

The DGEME commended the technical ingenuity and dedication of the EME personnel for their contributions to strengthening self-reliance and operational efficiency. He lauded the Corps’ sustained focus on innovation, indigenisation, and digital transformation, aligning with the Army’s broader goal of achieving technological independence under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Lt Gen Sahni emphasised the importance of continued adaptation to emerging battlefield technologies, reaffirming that the EME’s mission of maintaining, modernising, and innovating remains vital to the Indian Army’s operational success.
