7 Mistakes At SSB That You Must Introspect Instantly

0

There are different perceptions and conclusion in mind of repeaters over the cause of their rejection. Well, some candidates strike on the right target, while some either takes it causally or hit it wrong. Most of the times, candidate’s makes some most common mistakes and blame the SSB crew for their rejection. The word introspection works here. Some of the common mistakes done by the candidates are.

1. Communication Skills – Most of the candidates make mistakes in communication skills, but still they don’t come across their problem. The best way to check is to record your own voice and listen it. You will easily find out the crests and troughs. Further to improve it, just increase your social involvement and try to focus on speaking slowly and thinking over what you are saying.
2. Writing Skills – Writing skills matters in psychology tests. Way of expression, clarity of thoughts and accurate targeting of your views in the form of words are included in writing skills. The only way to inculcate it is to practice and keep the mind active and open while writing.
3. Cramping Syndrome – It is always seen that candidates cramp the pre-framed material and dump it out at SSB. The assessors sitting there have to face that material every day and it is very easy to find out the cramped and natural responses. Respond in a natural and normal way, rather than copying the selected candidates or cramping bookish material.

banner2
4. Lying to the Experts – Most of the candidates speak out lies in front of the IO and other assessors. They are trained to absorb the lies and bring out the actual image of the candidate’s personality. If you are bluffing, then you are reducing your own chances of selection.
5. Aiming to Win – Sometimes candidates fight to win in GTO tasks and forgets that an officer leads, but also cooperates and takes the team with him. SSB is not the race that selects the toppers, but it selects the candidates, who are all over average in everything and can handle their effectively and efficiently.
6. Amalgamated Decisions, Thoughts and Actions – Keep your thoughts, views, ideas and action clear. Some candidate delivers confused ideas and decisions and confuses others. Keep the thoughts crystal clear and make the decisions which stands good for you and for the team also. There should be a direct channel between your thoughts and your words and bring out the clear image of your personality.

Conclusion – The above shortcomings are found in most of the candidates. So, overcome them. Firstly find out them and then work over it. Stay to the point, clear and friendly in entire SSB schedule. Pay attention to every instruction and keep yourself alert. Just follow the instructions in the mentioned way. SSB is the interview process, which accesses the candidates from all dimensions and comes to a precise conclusion after deep analysis and assessment.

AFCAT 1 2017 Question Paper Analysis by Candidates [26 Feb 2017]

0
AFCAT question paper analysis

Finally, the much awaited AFCAT has been successfully conducted now. Depending on the number of applicants every year, Air Force sets cut-off marks, which are generally, higher than the previous cut-offs.

Owing to a large number of applications, AFCAT 1 2017 was held in two shifts – morning and evening unlike last year’s morning and afternoon shifts.

Question Paper Analysis of AFCAT 1 2017:

Though not eligible, I have taken the AFCAT exam for the first time to understand its pattern and the type of questions asked – with no preparations whatsoever for that matter. And guess what’s my opinion on it? The AFCAT question paper was so damn easy that anyone who follows current affairs and read newspapers can crack it. Out of the 100 questions, I have attempted 61 and out of which, I am sure that 55 are correct. That means 165 marks scored and even if considering the rest as wrong answers, my final score stands 165-6=159, which is well above the expected cut-off.

Section-wise question paper analysis of AFCAT 1 2017:

General Awareness:

This section was easy if you follow news and have a good GK. I have asked the same thing to other candidates who attended the exam in the Hyderabad centre (HYD-07, CMRTC) and most of them had the same deduction that keeping up with current affairs and reading newspapers will make it easier to crack the general awareness section.

Verbal Ability in English:

The same thing goes here too, read – magazines, newspapers, editorial, etc. The explanation is, it keeps you up to date, brushes up you GK, improves your reading skills and surely helps with the antonyms and synonyms. So, about 20 questions (and 60 marks) go here itself.

Numerical Ability:

For the major part, I have skipped the maths section. I was under tremendous pressure and was unable to concentrate properly (they were not allowing for washrooms, you see). Pro Tip: Before taking the exam, do attend washroom and do not drink water, or any other fluid for that matters. On a serious note, the numerical ability was also easy as it comprised of the syllabus from the elementary school maths and a bit from 11th and 12th.

Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test section:

This section judges the verbal skills and spatial ability of the candidate. This is the skill that you can’t develop in a day or two. It requires daily practice and logical problem solving skills applied in daily life.

EKT:

I have also attended the EKT paper for Computer Science stream and I found that a bit difficult. But taking the fact that I attempted the paper with no preparations, had I brushed up a few of my engineering subjects, it would also have been easier for me.

Concluding, I can say that AFCAT is easier to crack than CDSE and NDA exams. Add that with dedicated preparations and passion, voila, there is your SSB call letter!

NDA 2 2017 Age Limits

The Armed Forces recruit the young and fresh minds that are always ready to solve the problems in any situations. For that, the Armed Forces have laid down certain opportunities for different categories of the candidates to let maximum people will get the chance to join the Armed Forces. For the fresh aspirants, who have passed 10+2 or are appearing in the same standard, the opportunity of NDA is provided to them. Every year, several candidates appear in the exam to get themselves into the Armed Forces. Out of several quarries, the most important quarry regarding the NDA forms is related to the eligibility on the basis of the date of birth.

The age limit required to appear in the NDA 2 2017 is 16 ½ to 19 ½ years or the candidate born on or after 2nd January 1999 and not later than 1st July 2002 including both the dates are eligible for the exam. Unlike CDS and AFCAT, the date of birth for all three services i.e. Army, Navy and Air force through NDA is same i.e. 16 ½ to 19 ½ years. The candidates whose date of birth falls in the range mentioned above are eligible for the NDA 2 2017.

Conclusion – The age limit is the first eligibility criteria that candidates match with their details. The date of birth range is 16 ½ to 19 ½ as mentioned above will be the age range for the candidates who can apply for the NDA 2 2017. Some other points in eligibility criteria are educational qualification, nationality, medical standards etc. But we have here discussed the common query of the candidates related to the age eligibility for the exam. So, those who fulfill the eligibility criteria for the exam should start preparing for the exam and give their best this time.

Here is Why 9 Para (Special Forces) is so Secretive of Itself

0
9 para featured

There are people. Then there are the best. Then comes the best of the best. While being a Para commando is one thing that many soldiers dream of and some eventually become a part of it, there are 9 Para SF on the other side – the nucleus, the heart of the Parachute Regiment. 9 Para, the Special Forces, is the first Special Forces battalion of Indian Armed Forces who had established its name by unlimited heroic deeds which seem impossible to Indian Military before.
Prepare for your SSB Interview with best books

Raised in July 1966, 9th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (Commando) was the first special operations unit of the Parachute Regiment.

9 Para SF is also called as Ghost Operators of Indian Army due to it being highly secretive. Else, we would have a Wikipedia on their reputation and bravery since its formation.

If this was not enough, 9 Para SF had given gems like L/Naik Mohan Goswami, L/Naik Om Prakash and Capt Tushar Mahajan to India and to her people.

Evaluating its secretiveness, 9 Para SF can be considered working wholly as an independent organisation. They operated the most lethal weapons and at the same time, have their own army of geeks to look after cyber security, encryption, decryption, and so on.

9 Para SF are specially trained in unconventional warfare and are as good as MARCOS and were also meant for secret operations deep within foreign soil, go to depths of 7 to 50 km inside (hostile territory) and are trained in such way, but overused and sometimes misused to fight insurgents all the time, so casualties are more.

It is another thing that matter, 9 Para SF is being used to do tasks which better-trained line infantry or para battalions can do. However, their training remains the same – learning local languages, crawling through mud, holding breath underwater, surviving in a jungle, guerrilla warfare, and most important doing successful missions in groups of two or three and surviving alone.

After just 2 years in the army a 9 Para SF, at the age of 23, has been in about 60 missions – many run for weeks or months when in J&K or Naxal areas.

Now hypothetically, will all of this have been possible if they were not so secretive?

9 Para SF has stories to share but their silent instinct has made them the so-called silent killers of today.

INS Betwa Back on Even Keel After Tipping, Floating Like Any Other Warship

0

In December, last year, INS Betwa had tipped over at the Mumbai naval dockyard claiming 2 lives and injuring 14 others.

The guided missile frigate which turned upside down while undocking on December 6, 2016, has been salvaged to its upright position. The damaged warship will be made operational again by April 2018.

A ₹20-crore contract was signed by the Navy with an international salvage firm, Resolve Marine Group, to upright the 3,850-tonne frigate. Since the Navy does not have a crane big enough to lift a ship of Betwa’s size, the Indian arm of US-based Resolve Marine Group was approached.

The Navy has also completed its board of inquiry (BoI) headed by a Rear Admiral into the unprecedented mishap. An assessment of the damage to the ship showed that the mast had hit the ground on the left. It was suspected that the dock block mechanism had malfunctioned during undocking in the cruiser graving dock of the dockyard. The ship was undergoing a refit.

The mishap apparently occurred due to miscalculation of the “load distribution equilibrium” required in the complex and delicate undocking procedure, leaving the frigate heavily damaged with at least 25% flooding in its compartments.

Prior to this, Betwa ran aground in January 2014 and collided with an unidentified object that led to a crack in its sonar system.

About INS Betwa:
  1. The INS Betwa is a frigate of the Brahmaputra class, built by Garden Reach Ship Builders of Kolkata and commissioned into service in July 2004.
  2. It was named after the river Betwa.
  3. The frigate was indigenously designed and built with the capability to operate at extended ranges, with speeds up to 30 knots.
  4. It is one of the Western Naval Command’s key warships and is armed with Uran anti-ship missiles, Barak 1 surface-to-air missiles and torpedoes.
  5. Indian Navy is confident that with in-house expertise and sustained efforts, the ship will be made fully operational by her scheduled date of refit completion i.e. by April 2018.
