SSC 43rd and SSCW 14th (Tech) Notification

Indian Army has published the notification of SSC 43rd and SSCW 14th. SSC 43 and SSCW 14 is a technical entry for engineering male and female graduates, respectively. All candidates who are eligible for SSC-43rd Tech men and SSC-14th Tech women entry, can apply for it through joinindianarmy.nic.in website.

Minimum Educational Qualification and Stream wise Vacancies

Educational Qualification: 
For Engineers (Men and Women). Candidates studying in the Final Year of Engineering Degree and who are qualified graduates of the Degree Course in Engineering will be eligible to apply. The qualified graduates of the Degree Course must possess Engineering Degree at the time of joining training. The candidates studying in the final year of Degree Course, if not already in possession of the Degree Certificate should be able to produce the Engineering Degree within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at OTA. Such candidates will be inducted for training at OTA on Additional Bond Basis for recovery of the cost of training as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay & allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite degree certificate.

SSC 43rd and SSCW 14th (Tech) Notification
Important Note :- Candidates must note that the minimum educational qualification for induction into SSC(Tech)-43course and SSCW (Tech)- 14 course is BE/B.Tech degree in the engineering stream notified in Para (1)(a) above. Therefore, to become eligible for induction into SSC(Tech)-43Men course and SSCW (Tech)- 14 Women course, candidates studying in final year of engineering must complete all the formalities
including viva voce etc for award of qualifying BE/B.Tech degree before commencement of course, failing which their candidature is liable to be cancelled.

Age Limit for SSC Tech 43rd and 14th

  1. For SSC (Tech)-43 Men – 20 to 27 years. Born not earlier than 02 Oct 87 and not latter than 01 Oct 94.
  2. SSC (Tech)-14 Women – 20 to 27 years. Born not earlier than 02 Oct 87 and not latter than 01 Oct 94.
  3. For Widows of Defence Personnel with four years age relaxation.
    • For SSCW (Non-Tech) – 19 to 29 years. Born not earlier than 02 Jul 85 and not latter than 01 Jul 95.
    • For SSCW (Tech) – 20 to 31 years. Born not earlier than 02 Oct 83 and not latter than 01 Oct 94.

How to Apply for SSC 43rd and SSCW 14th Notification

  • Application will only be accepted online. To do so the candidates needs to click on the “online application” button on website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  • The online form is self explanatory please follow the instruction terms and conditions given on the form.
  • Filling up of online application : Visit website joinindianarmy.nic.in and proceed as follows:-
    • Click on Officers Menu button. Go to How to apply button and then click apply online for the particular entry on the home page.
    • Fill the online registration form. Tips to assist in filling up fields have been provided as you click on each field.
    • While filling online application it is advisable to keep the relevant documents readily available as details are to be filled as per matriculation and other educational certificates.
    • Before clicking the submit button it should be checked whether all details entered in the form are correct as you will not be able to make any corrections after saving the record.
    • After submitting the form and acknowledgement of successful submission generated roll number the buttons of print and save the application will appear. It is advisable to first save the online application and then take a print out.
    • After submitting online application, candidates are required to obtain two copies of the application printout. One copy of print out application duly signed and affixed photograph attested by Gazetted Officer thereon and 10th Class certificate,12th Class certificate, Degree/Provisional Degree and mark sheets of eight semesters of B.E/B.Tech, all in original along with two attested photocopies of all the above certificates are to be carried out to the Selection Centre by the candidate. Original will be returned after verification by the Selection Centre. The second copy of the print out of online application is to be retained by the candidate for his reference. No need to send any hard copy to DG Rtg / Rtg Dte.
    • Candidates must submit only one application. Receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature.
  • Any change in your postal address after submission of application must be communicated by post duly quoting your Roll No., Name and course opted for.
  • Original Certificate should not be attached with the application form. Directorate General of Recruiting , Adjutant General’s Branch, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army) will not take responsibility for loss of original certificates, if attached with application. Photo should be pasted and not stapled . Attestation made on the back side of the photo will not be entertained.

The third and the final SSB dates for Army Medical Corps (NT)has been released. In this call up letter 273 candidates are called on 20th February 2014. The candidates are called at Selection Center Central, Bhopal, Allahabad and Bangalore. 

Here is some important information regarding this call up:
  • This is the Third (final) call up list for the candidates who have been allotted the interview dates.
  • The candidates who fail to attend any regular batches will be called up for an absentee batch in Selection Centre East, Allahabad after the SSB’s of regular batches are over.

  • They have to carry with them Original and two photocopies (Attested by a Gazetted Officer) of  Marks Sheet and passing Certificate of Matriculation and Latest Photocopy of Fd Conduct Sheet duly attested.

Territorial Army TA 30 SSB Interview Dates
Indian Army has released the call up list for the interview dates (SSB) of Territorial Army 30th Course (TA-30 Course). A total of 391 candidates are called up at Selection Center South, Bangalore. Out of these 391 candidates 180 have their Primary Interview Date(Regular Batch) reporting date on 24th Feb 2014 and Secondary Interview Date (Alternative Batch) reporting date on 26th Feb 2014, while the others have it vice-versa, i.e. Primary on 26th and Secondary on 24th Feb 2014. You check up for your date from the main call up list given at the end of this article.

Here are some important things related to this call up:
  • The candidates have to report at Bangalore City Railway Station at 1500 hours on the dates as specified against each person’s name for SSB Interviews.
  • You are asked to report preferably on the regular batch, only in exceptional circumstances you should report for the Alternative Batch.
    Territorial Army TA 30 SSB Interview Dates
  • You are asked to ensure your eligibility criteria before moving for SSB, failing to which you may not be enrolled.
  • An AC 3 tier ticket fare for both to and fro journey will be given to you in case you are going for the interview for the commission for the first time. The TA (Traveling Allowance) will be given for the shortest route only if you produce the travel Document (ticket).
  • You have to carry the following documents in original along with two attested photocopies (by a Gazetted officer) of each:
    • Passing certificate of matriculation / 10th standard exam for verification of age proof. (No other document except matriculation certificate in original is acceptable for age proof)
    • Passing certificate of Intermediate / 10+2 exam.
    • Mark sheets of matriculation / 10th standard and Intermediate / 10+2 exams.
    • Your identity proof with photograph (Anyone of Voter ID card, PAN card, UPSC admit card, Passport, Driving license, etc.)
    • Risk Certificate duly signed by your parent / guardian.
    • In case, your original documents are deposited with some institution for pursuing higher studies, you are required to bring a bonafide cum custodian certificate duly signed by the Principal/head of institution giving list of those documents and two photocopies of each document duly attested by the same authority.

The knowledge of the candidates is examined by the UPSC which administers written tests. But their intelligence is tested by the SSB through Intelligence and psychological tests. During his service, an Officer will be confronted with complicated situations which will test his intellect. Therefore, an Officer today must be intelligent and sharp.

The questions are numerous and lengthy but have short answers. But due to lack of time, one has to be very quick. A candidate who is to appear before a SSB must practice solving intelligence tests. If he has sufficient practice in solving different types of tests, he will be able to grasp them more easily and quickly.
The testing Officer gives instructions on how to solve the questions, the requirement of the tests, how and where to write the answer and the time limit. If there is even a slightest doubt in the candidates mind, he should clarify it immediately.  If a candidate does not know the answer to a question straight away he should not stop to think but leave it and pass on the next.
Officers+Intelligence+Test

Questions are written in a booklet which is handed over to the candidates. No mark is to be made on this booklet. No page should be torn out of it and it has to be returned fully intact to the testing Officer. The candidates are also supplied with an answer sheet. One has to fill in his personal particulars on the top of this sheet before attempting to write the answers.
Time is very limited and the maximum numbers of questions are to be solved in the least amount of time, hence one has to be quick and must concentrate only on the paper given to him.
Intelligence tests are designed to test a candidate’s capacity through his performance. Therefore, if he gains sufficient practice in exercising this capacity, he has greater chances of success.

Being overweight can result in the candidate getting a Temporary Rejection in his medical exam. To lose weight after getting a TR is not very difficult but you need to be determined and need to follow a certain tight schedule.

The first thing you need to pay attention to is your diet. Try to eat food which is low on starches, sugar and animal fats. This means you need to stay away from potato chips, fries, pastries, soft drinks, candies and cakes. Eat food which is rich in protein and fiber. This includes leafy vegetables, egg whites, fruits and salads. Drinking a lot of water not only helps to lose weight, but it keeps your immune system healthy and your skin good looking. Also, unsweetened green tea is a great substitute for soft drinks as it contains anti-oxidants which keep our body healthy.  Eat at a fixed time and don’t skip a meal.

Exercise is the best way to lose body fat. You can start with easy and stamina building exercises like jogging and swimming. Progressive Group Task PGT

The Progressive Group Task (PGT) is an outdoor group exercise that follows the Group Planning Exercise during the Group Testing Officer (GTO) series at the Services Selection Board (SSB).

Known for its unique blend of teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, the PGT requires a group of candidates to navigate a series of increasingly difficult obstacles under specific rules and constraints. Below is a comprehensive guide on how the PGT unfolds, what to expect, and how to perform effectively.

1. Overview of PGT

  1. Sequence: The PGT typically comes after the Group Planning Exercise. It is one of the early outdoor tasks in the GTO series.
  2. Task Nature: A series of physical obstacles laid out in a ground or open space that you must cross from start to finish using prescribed materials.
  3. Time Allocated: Usually 30–45 minutes for the entire group to complete all levels of obstacles.
  4. Group Participation: All members of the group participate together. The difficulty level of each obstacle increases progressively from one stage to the next.

2. Helping Materials

The GTO provides each group with the following items to negotiate the obstacles:

  1. Wooden Log (Balli) – A sturdy piece of wood that can be used as a support or bridge.
  2. Wooden Plank (Phatta) – A flat board that can be laid across gaps.
  3. Rope – Useful for tying, pulling, or creating makeshift bridges.
  4. Fragile Load – An object (often a drum or box) representing a load that you must carefully transport across each obstacle.

You must use these materials judiciously while following the rules outlined by the GTO.

3. Rules of the Progressive Group Task

3.1 Rule of Colors

The obstacle structures are painted in three colors—Red, Yellow, and White—and each color imposes specific restrictions:

  1. White: Both the candidate and the helping material can be placed or used on white-colored parts.
  2. Yellow: A candidate can stand on a yellow-colored area, but no helping material can be placed on it.
  3. Red: Neither the candidate nor the helping material can touch the red-colored sections.

Violating these color rules typically means starting the obstacle again or incurring a penalty, depending on the GTO’s discretion.

3.2 Out of Bounds Area

  • Mud Surfaces and other designated sections are out of bounds.
  • Any area marked or stated by the GTO as “Out of Bounds” must not be touched by the candidate or the helping material.

3.3 Rule of Rigidity

  • Rigid materials (wooden logs, planks) cannot be tied together.
  • However, you can tie the helping materials to the obstacle structure itself if needed.

3.4 Rule of Infinity

  • The start line and the finish line are deemed to extend infinitely to the left and right.
  • You cannot circumvent the obstacle by going around it; you must cross through the structure.

3.5 Rule of Group and Load

  • The entire group, including the last person, all helping materials, and the fragile load, must move forward in unison through the entire course.
  • You cannot leave anyone or any item behind while moving to the next stage of the obstacle.

3.6 Rule of Distance

  • No jumps greater than four feet are permitted.
  • Any gap wider than four feet must be bridged using the helping materials.

4. Important Points to Remember

  1. Do Not Look at the GTO: Maintain focus on your group, the obstacles, and the task.
  2. Pay Attention to the Briefing: The GTO often provides crucial hints and clarifications during the initial briefing.
  3. Observe Details: Small notches, hooks, or structural protrusions can give you clues on how to place or tie materials.
  4. Propose Logical Solutions: The GTO evaluates your problem-solving approach—ensure your ideas make sense and follow the rules.
  5. Communicate and Cooperate: A friendly, supportive tone helps in maintaining group cohesion.
  6. Motivate and Support: Encourage group members who are struggling; teamwork is key to success.

5. Tips for Performing Well in PGT

  1. Plan Quickly but Carefully
    • Evaluate the obstacle layout and decide on a feasible approach.
    • Don’t rush without thinking, but also avoid overthinking.
  2. Use Resources Wisely
    • Place the wooden plank, log, and rope strategically.
    • Ensure you do not violate the Rule of Rigidity or the Color Rule.
  3. Be Adaptable
    • If one plan fails, switch to an alternative without wasting time.
    • Remain calm and composed to maintain group morale.
  4. Foster Teamwork
    • Encourage ideas from quieter members.
    • Execute the best plan collectively without letting personal ego interfere.
  5. Maintain Safety and Compliance
    • Watch your footing on planks or logs.
    • Ensure no one crosses the red or out-of-bounds areas inadvertently.

CDS 1 2014 Admit Card
Candidates are advised to download and check their e-Admission Certificates carefully and bring discrepancy, if any, to the notice of the Commission immediately.  Rejection Letters citing the ground(s) for rejection have been issued through e-mails and also put on Commission’s web-site http://www.upsc.gov.in.In case any difficulty faced by the candidates in downloading e-Admission Certificates, they may contact the UPSC Facilitation Counter on Telephone Nos.  011-23385271, 011-23381125 & 011-23098543 on any working days between 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM.  The candidates can also send FAX message on FAX No. 011-23387310.  No Admission Certificate will be sent by post.
In case the photograph is not printed clear on the e-Admission Certificates,  candidates are advised to carry three (3) photographs (one identical photograph for each session) alongwith proof of Identity such as Aadhar Card or Identity Card or Voter Identity Card or Passport or Driving License and printout of e-Admission Certificate at the venue of the Examination.

Territorial Army is not a full time employment or occupation; it is service for those who really want to serve their country in spite of having a well settled civilian life. Any gainfully employed civilian person can join Territorial Army. The age bar is quiet relaxed and males up to 42 years of age can join.     A moment of pride, honor and bravery awaits every Indian on 15th of January every year in the form of Army Day. There are no enough words to praise the bravery and sacrifice which our soldiers put up every day to safeguard the motherland and her inhabitants. This day is just the right moment to celebrate that all, celebrate the brave martyrs of our Army and celebrate the bravery they show. Indian Army Day is celebrated on 15th of January every year.

    This Day is celebrated because on the same day (15th of January) in 1948 Lieutenant General K. M. Cariappa (Kodandera Madappa Cariappa) took over as the first Commander-in-chief of the Indian Army from Sir Francis Butcher, the last British commander. Thus this day is celebrated to recognize this proud moment. In 2014 Indian Army is celebrating 66th Army Day. On this day various parades, celebration and shows are held in the National Capital of New Delhi and in all Army Commands. On this day homage is paid to the epitome of bravery, the soldiers who have come all their way to protect the country without giving a second thought, and the soldiers for whom the Nation has come first always.

    The celebration starts with homage paid at the Amar Jawan Jyoti and then a flaunting parade takes over along with the military show to project the new technologies, procurements and advancements of the Army in the past year. Bravery Awards are given to the deserving soldiers including the Sena Medal. Army day parade during the army day celebration is carried out by the Indian army soldiers (Indian army bands) which involves the exhibition of BLT T-72, T-90 tanks, BrahMos Missile, carrier Mortar Tracked Vehicle, 155 MM Soltum Gun, Advanced Light Helicopters of the Army Aviation Corps etc.

    It is indeed a great sight to see the nation remembering the martyrs along with the Indian Army Family. The serving personnel take a pledge to continue serving the country with same dedication and protect the nation from not only foreign troubles but from any domestic troubles as well. Let us make this day a day of celebration for all not just a few, since Army is dedicated to work for the citizens hence isn’t it our duty to celebrate the day for all those who have given away their lives for us, and many more who are sitting in the extremes of temperature to guard us so that we can be in peace? Hope that the dedicated youth, who are reading this piece just because they love the forces, will understand and make it a day to be cherished by all.
