Group Planning Exercise 8

1
Group Planning Exercise 8

Group planning exercise is the first task of the GTO, and also a very sound opportunity for making an impression on the GTO. Group planning exercise contains a set of problems which brings out all “officers’ like qualities” in a candidate which encompasses quality to lead (the lads), organizing, courage, team work, spontaneity, and effective intelligence, etc.

GPE Comprises of 5 Stages

  1. Explanation of the Model
  2. Narrative by the GTO .
  3. Self-reading for 5 minutes by candidates.
  4. 10 minutes for writing the solution for the problem.
  5. 10 minutes for discussing the solution.
  6. Conclusion

Important Tips for Group Planning Exercise

  1. First and foremost see the map and scale up the distance.
  2. The second important thing is to locate your position using the direction mentioned in the map.
  3. When a GTO narrates a story, listen to it very carefully and count the no. of problems. It will help you to remember the no. of problems and set the priority accordingly.
  4. Use the resources efficiently.
  5. Prioritize your solution; help the person who needs it utmost.
  6. Never engage yourself in a fight with the “terrorists” till the time you don’t have any other options. Try to maintain a safe distance and keep an eye on them.
  7. Divide the group according to requirement. Send more people where the situation is more vulnerable.

Group Planning Exercise 8

You are a group of 8 friends from Delhi went to Udham Nagar for expedition. You are staying in a small lodge at Market. You decide to visit the Guest House which is in nearby locality. You book an auto and reach to the Guest house. You were entering the Guest house when you see a person lying on the floor and he is bleeding. He tells you that he is a RAW agent and he was after some terrorists who intruded from the border area and he was shot on his leg. He managed to escape from there. He tells you, the terrorist has planted a bomb at the railway track and it will go off as soon as a train passes it. You know that a train passes the track at 3.00 pm. After planting the bomb one of the groups will attack on the convoy of the Chief Minister which will pass the market at 3.30 pm. The other group will attack the Army cantt at 3.30pm. There is a Police station and a hospital near the Market. It is now 2.00 pm. You being young and brave, what will you do?

20 Things You Must Take Care of at SSB Interview

1
cds 2 2020 ima ssb dates

Are you going for SSB interview, if yes, you would like to know 20 things you must take care of at SSB. Without writing much let’s come directly to the point. Here is a quick list of 20 things that you must take care of at the SSB Interview.

SSB Interview Preparation Material [ 100% Recommended]

  1. Go prepared, nothing can be achieved without preparations, gone are those days when SSB’s were just about going and doing everything as it came. SO go with full preparations.
  2. Don’t be a robot of the coaching you are taught in, apply your own brain and don’t act according to mugged up things.
  3. Take care of your dress up, wear only what you are supposed to wear, follow the dress code. Of course these things don’t fetch you marks but it gives your personality a good outlook.
  4. Follow the rules in all tasks, when you break any don’t hesitate to admit. Honesty is the most important quality of an officer.
  5. Writing mugged up responses in psychological tests will get easily caught. Let your imagination run wild. Write what you see and imagine, they want to see your thoughts.
  6. Be careful to not contradict any of your responses anywhere, for doing so you need to be truthful, so that you don’t contradict yourself in Psych, Interview or GTO.
  7. SSB is all about ‘Manasa, Vacha and Karmana’, you need to be one person, and hence your thoughts, actions and words should be the same. So keep this in mind.
  8. Do not hear and believe in any rumor and also not spread any.
  9. A good leader knows how to preserve his/her own life as well so do not try to do anything (in GTO) which may result in hurting yourself physically and thus disqualifying you from going any further in the SSB.
  10. Remain enthusiastic and a cheerful person. A gloomy face is generally not admired by many.
  11. Some of us get extra friendly in interview. This must be avoided, remember they are doing their job which is to make you comfortable and friendly, but there is a certain level and certain distance which should be maintained with the interviewer, hence you are advised not to pour out your heart in the interview.
  12. In a race to complete all SRT’s and WAT no compromise with the quality should be done. Hence write a full reaction in SRT’s and make sensible sentences in WAT.
  13. Maintain a suitable friendship with all your group mates. Don’t be very friendly with anybody and similarly don’t avoid somebody completely. Be nice to all.
  14. Open up with your group but to an extent. Neither speak too much nor be quiet all the time, be enthusiastic in talking and going out with others.
  15. If you are repeater try not to be teacher for every fresher, you are as clueless as they are so try and avoid preaching about SSB and how to succeed etc.
  16. About the mess food. Of course it’ll not be a 5 star kind of food; they have to prepare for 100’s of you so the taste might be not very good, although they try to do their best. Kindly do not severely criticize. You have gone there for something else, food is just a part!
  17. Avoid picking up fights! Yes this may sound a bit funny but some cases are there where a candidate has picked up fight with another over the basketball or something and both were kicked out.
  18. Go out in groups/bunches. For some of you the city and the region entirely might be new, so it’s better to hang out in groups, plus it adds up to the bonding.
  19. Come in time for everything. Be it for the tasks, mess or book-in time you should be punctual.
  20. Maintain the decorum, do not hang out in the campus chatting loudly or laughing hysterically. Defence is associated with strict discipline and you as an aspirant for the same are expected to have some.

Start doing strength training and it you already do that increase your time for those exercises. You may do squats, bench presses, pull ups, dead lifts, etc.  Also, have an energy shake immediately after your exercise as they increase your endurance.
You must get a good night sleep of at least 8 hours for your body to rest and for your muscles to grow. It is observed that people who are calm and peaceful have a very adaptive body. Hence you must remain calm and not take tension. It takes at least one week for your body to show any significant gain, so don’t be disheartened if you can’t gain weight in a day or two.
