how to get fit for ssb interview

Guys, we at SSBCRACK not only take care of your intellectual and informational needs but also your physical attributes. Physical fitness is a pivotal prerequisite for joining the forces but we often tend to neglect it and postpone it. We are today sharing a model fitness plan to be followed religiously to lose those extra kilos fast and become like Akshay Kumar in HOLIDAY(not kidding)

But before following this plan keep in mind that in order to change your physicality, you must not binge on fried items like aloo chips, pakodas, vada pavs and say strict no no to sugar like colas, ice creams cakes chocolates etc.
Your diet should consist of moderate carbs, proteins, limited fat, vitamins and minerals. It is advised not to eat after 8pm in the night and not to skip any meal. Also drink lots of water throughout the day. Include fruits and leafy vegetables in your diet.
Now that we are through with the diet, let’s get going.
All of these exercises are simple and can easily be done without having to visit the gymnasium.
  1. Stretching followed by warm-up(slow running) for 5 minutes
  2. Skipping rope or standing jumps- 3 to 5 minutes depending upon fitness level
  3. Pushups- 3 sets(12,10,8 times each). Those who cannot do even one push up can try knee ups by using knee as a support to do push ups
  4. Squats-10 times. Squat is a position in which you couch or sit with knees bent close to the heels with your thighs parallel to the floor. It is a full body work out that primarily targets hips, thighs and buttocks

Alter the leg and repeat it again

Take 1-2 minutes rest after finishing each workout listed here. This workout is to be done 6 times a week. Apart from this playing a game like soccer, rugby, basketball and badminton can also help you to shed some weight.
Along these exercises one can also do some yoga to achieve faster results.

Fake It Till You Make It

Fake It Till You Make It

Well, you can’t agree more to this old age adage. You all (like me) must be visiting this insightful page quite frequently. But when it comes to the starting point, we get a headache. In this post we would like to point out various cardinals everyday habits which would not only enable you to be successful in SSB but also in various other attributes of life.

1. SMILE FREQUENTLY:- That’s right, though it might seem a hare brained idea but it is scientifically proven that people who smile quite often are more likely to be happy and successful than who don’t. And relax, you don’t own all the problems in the world.
2. PLAN :-  Those who fail to plan, plan to fail. Given this competitive world, one cannot afford to be complacent. Procrastinators are a big NO- NO in the defence forces.
3. BE PHYSICALLY TOUGH:- I am not telling you to reprise the antics of Aamir khan in Ghajini and flaunt your corporeal abilities but one ought be fit enough to meet the required military standards.
4. READ NEWSPAPER:- Seems to be paltry and petty thing to do but it yields propitious results in the longer run. You never know what piece of knowledge you acquire might impress the interviewing officer. For Preparation of the GD and Lecturette having profound knowledge of current affairs is a plus point.
5. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF:- Those who go on to become officers are in no aliens. They are people just like us who believed in themselves and worked with dogged determination. If you don’t have faith in yourself then no one will.

Fake It Till You Make It

6. ACT LIKE AN OFFICER:-Don’t you want OLQs to just emerge out when you are in action in the SSB interview? Then one must learn to act like an officer in every situation in life. Before taking any decision just think what would an officer do in such situation and then act accordingly.
7. FOCUS ON ‘KARMA: This lesson from Mahabharata never back fires. It is imperative that we keep doing the right things without thinking too much about the result. Success will be yours not immediately but definitely.
8. RESPECT YOURSELF:- You have decided to take step which is not an ordinary one. You should be proud of yourself for having the propensity and tenacity to serve the nation.
9. START TODAY:- Don’t be of the assumption that you can change your natural behaviour in the SSB. Fake personality comes out conspicuously under the high pressure circumstances. Rather start from today to behave like an officer.

Friends the gist of this article is that we should start doing something different if we want something different from our life. Rome wasn’t built in a day. These tiny-tiny habits if inculcated properly will pay high dividends in the future. So warriors let GET GOING!!!!

Is SSB Allahabad Really a Rejection Board?[SHOCKING FACTS]

5

Selection Center East (SCE) is located in Allahabad and consists of five service selection boards 11 SSB, 14 SSB, 18 SSB, 19 SSB and 34 SSB, which are all the selection boards of Indian Army. This is, by far the biggest Selection board of Indian Army. In case of NDA and CDSE the candidates who give their first priority as Army might be asked to report to this Selection Center. In case of special entry schemes, technical entry schemes and direct entry schemes of Indian Army, candidates might be called to this selection board for the interview. As this is a very large selection center, so there are a lot of candidates reporting here. There is a general myth among the candidates that this selection board is a rejection board. While some others say that this board is a rejection board. Let us look into further details of this point:

  1. Since this is a very large selection center, where there are five boards under it, so the number of candidates reporting is high naturally. This speaks volumes about the large number of rejections that happen here. Since the number of rejection that happen in SSB is directly proportional to the number of candidates reporting so it is self-explanatory.
  2. There is no term like rejection board. The Selection boards work on a set procedure. They’ll take all the candidates if they have OLQ’s and reject all if they don’t have. So SSB is a game of OLQ’s and not numbers.
  3. The Board consists of officers who are responsible for the selection. There is a set procedure of transfers on which the forces work.. no officer can remain at the same board for indefinite period of time. He/she is bound to get a transfer. Since officers are the people who make a selection board and they are the functional units behind the working of a selection board so it again explains why a board can’t be all the same throughout many years.
  4. If it would have been a rejection board then there will be no selections happening. But certainly this is not the case. There are candidates who get selected from this selection center also.
  5. There is no concept of a hard board. All the boards are the same. As mentioned above, they select candidates based on their performance in certain tests; these tests are common for all the boards. The standards which a candidate should qualify to are also common. So this clearly tells that all the boards work on the same kind of principle.
    SSB Allahabad
To draw a conclusion I would say that of course this board is not a rejection board. I have seen people who have been rejected by a lot other boards, but get recommended through Allahabad board. So the selection depends on your efforts, introspection and hard work, and definitely not on the board. They are sitting there to select officers; forces are already running short of officers. You need to meet the standards to get through.

Fauji Brats Have Better Chances of Success in SSB Interview, Yes or No?

4
Indian Army BRATS

I have heard many candidates in SSB saying that the board is partial towards the Fauji brats. They always take in those having their parents in defence at high positions. Candidates complain that while filling the PIQ form only the Fauji brats are asked to explicitly mention the ranks of their parents if they are in defence. Through this article, I aim to clear this myth out of your mind, by giving some substantial reasons. It is quite natural to love the organization you work for, for so many years.

It is also not surprising to have a soft corner for those who have worked for the same organization. You would have felt an instant connection with the people of your school, college, or city when you see them outside somewhere. The selection board has a duty above favoritism.

ssbinterviewbook

Some of them might feel a certain soft corner for the kids with a defence background, but in the end, it is not one test that counts. There are several tests that count, and qualifying each is based on the OLQ’s which one possesses not the background. For those candidates who think bribing is possible in SSB, let me tell you, it is even more than impossible! There are defence background kids who don’t make it, so it proves well enough that OLQ’s are important not the background.

The defence background kids have a certain advantage that they have been living in that atmosphere since childhood, so it comes naturally to them. It is easy for them to pick up with the OLQ’s as they have been seeing their parents. It is also easy for them to know about the forces, as again they have been living in that atmosphere for so long. As far as mentioning the rank in the PIQ goes, it is because the board wants to ensure that there is no kith or kiln of the candidate working in the board currently, as is mentioned in the call letter as a rule. In fact it is more difficult for the Fauji kids in SSB.

spot_img

This is so because the expectation level from them automatically rises. If they are from defence background, then it is expected out of them to know certain things and stick to a very near to perfect behavior. Since they have been living in the Fauji atmosphere. The level of knowledge expected from them about the forces is high too. So to conclude I would like to say that the Fauji brats have no additional or added advantage, in fact, they have a disadvantage, because they have to perform up to a certain expected level.

Screened Out’s Exclusive: 10 Tips to Perform Well in Screening

1
Screening Test Day 1 of SSB Interview

There are a few candidates who are not able to clear the first stage of screening and thus return back on the first day itself. The first stage testing is also called the screening test. Screening basically comprises of two tests, Officers Intelligence and Rating Test (OIR) and PicturePerception and Discussion Test (PPDT). Both the tests hold equal importance and if you are not able perform well in any one of them; chances are that you might be screened out. Some of you must be those unlucky few who have been screened out many times; here are a few tips for you to perform well in screening:

oir test and ppdt

10 Tips to Perform Well in Screening

  1. The most important thing is remove the myth from your mind that OIR is less importance. A certain level of basic intelligence is importance, and you need to perform well in this test. So just keep in mind that both the tests are equally important.
  2. Practice the reasoning questions before going for SSB. The reason why OIR becomes more important is because many times there are cases where the Discussion of PP&DT becomes like a fish market, then there may be chances that your OIR score will be given weightage, so why take a risk with it.
  3. Write a sensible story on the picture you see, never write a story which you have made previously, which has no connection with the shown picture.
  4. Listen to the instructions in the tests very carefully, this point is very important. You need to adhere to the instructions very closely.
  5. While saying your story, i.e. during narration make eye contact with every candidate, do not look at the board members. Narrate your story confidently, giving an account of the action, age mood and sex of the hero.
  6. When somebody is speaking listen to their story carefully. You should look interested. Make eye contact with the speaker, and you need to actually listen to their points because you can use them in the discussion that follow, you can give references, that will definitely have a good impact.
  7. When the discussion starts it is never necessary to be the first speaker.  Speak when there is a little pause. Speak a point which has impact. Your voice should be strong, loud but not rude.
  8. You must speak relevant points and take the group towards a common conclusion. A good leader is the one who contributes in forming a decision. Never keep on beating about the bush, i.e. repeating the same point and if your group is going against your choice also then too contribute positively, it is group exercise remember that.
  9. While speaking and listening maintain a correct posture. Do not lean or use too many gestures. Your posture should reflect your confidence.
  10. Go with a fresh mind, thinking that you have never faced this, never think about your previous failures, just focus on the upcoming task, keep in mind that this time you’ll do it.

Improving Core Aspects of Personality Can Only Lead Success in SSB – Part2

0

Gen Bikram Singh

Your can read Part -1 here. Core aspects are such values and morals that might differ from place to place but are very core and unmovable objects that decide the character of the person. And you would be surprised to know that such elements are only being judged at SSB. Now the important questions are that when such things are not movable what do people who say that we will train you will change in a small span of time. Aspirants should remember that these aspects need time to change and hence they should start the process of preparation or I would call it introspection should begin well in time. I refuse few aspirants who ask for my mentorship when their SSB is just two week apart as this time is not sufficient to induce change, and mentoring such people mean it’s not justice with their personality.

Once guidance is given there should be some time when the aspirant should spend time with himself to reflect upon what needs to be done and implement changes slowly and suddenly. Once the change is implemented slowly the process of improvement is smooth and one gets the change permanently done. So guys feel happy that nothing is impossible, but yes this change needs time. Who stops people to start the process of change well in time and get the change permanent? But it seems human nature is difficult to change and once the motivation from the life is gone nothing could be done. Specially the repeaters who had given many times forget that they should change themselves a bit and then move with the new personality. That’s why it is suggested not to repeat SSB at a gap of small period because such changes if tried needs time.

Gen Bikram Singh

Some aspects of personality like eating and drinking habits are easy to change but remember these aspects are not checked and they do not form the OLQ’s. So change is part of life and it should constantly happen but don’t forget to start early. At this junction I would also like to answer query raised by one of my mentee what all a person should do to introspect his/ her personality himself. Now remember the following:

  • You are the best person who knows your personality. Spend some time daily with yourself to understand the changes that are taking place. Eg: actions which suddenly you did and was not the part of regular personality of yours.
  • Try to look for solid reasons of why you reacted to the particular situation and was that expected.
  • Once you understand that in SSB the competition is not in group but with yourself you will try to work in an ideal manner and that’s what is expected out of officers.
  • Ideal here does not mean someone who always performs right deeds and is the best without any mistakes or weakness but he is one who commits his mistakes and promises to improve them.
Follow these simple tricks to innovate yourself. Still if you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. It would be a pleasure to help and resolve queries and clear doubts which are more often myths that are present in the mind and that can severely degrade the performance.

Beating Nervousness in SSB Interview

0

It is very common to get nervous before anything important in your life. For those of you, who have had the dream of wearing the uniform since an infinite period of time, it is natural to get nervous when you are just a few steps away from realizing this dream. It becomes even difficult to control getting nervous if you have great expectations to succeed in something. But this nervousness can affect your performance to a great extent. So here are a few tips which you can use to beat this nervousness:

ssbinterviewbook
  1. There is nothing at stake. There is nothing to lose. All that can happen is gain only. So there is basically nothing to worry about. Keep these words in your mind.
  2. Take deep breath. This will relax your mind to a great extent. People just hear this thing and ignore it but this can really be therapeutic. So next time when you are nervous just close your eyes and take a deep breath.
  3. One great way to avoid nervousness is preparation. If you are preparing well in advance, there are much less likely ways that you’ll be nervous. So yes advance preparations help a lot.
  4. One big way to avoid nervousness just before the interview is by not asking other what questions they were asked. Everybody is a unique person with unique personality, the questions in the interview are personality specific most of the time and if you hear other people’s questions they are most likely to differ from yours.
  5. You can also avoid nervousness by not listening to other advises. It generally happens that we prepare in some way and then when we go in SSB, many people tell us many things, so we get confused and try to hear and follow a variety of things. This leads to further confusion.
  6. Have confidence on yourself, your knowledge, your preparations. If you’ll not have confidence on yourself no one else will.
  7. The best way to beat nervousness is to go forward and perform, especially in case of GT series. So think of points in GD, concentrate on the task that is being performed, just do your best instead of thinking much.
  8. For lecturette you need to have strong points. When you speak you must speak like a leader. This is one task apart from interview in which the candidates feel a lot nervous. This is because you have to speak in front of so many people. Practice that before, at that time think that they are just your friends and you are master of the topic. Make direct eye contact and speak.
  9. When you speak with direct eye contact, you appear confident, and when you see the other person listening to you with interest you forget every worry. So speak with confidence in interview as well.
  10. Before every task mentally revise everything you need to do in that. This helps a lot, first of all it’ll instill confidence in you and secondly it’ll divert your energy in a positive direction.

SSB Interview Personality Tips

Serving motherland is always a honour that one can get in his or her lifetime but it’s a big responsibility too. And hence it cannot be given to everyone. A very stringent selection procedure is justified in this sense because a high responsibility work is awarded after that. SSB is such one procedure running in our country that is very much customised as per our requirement and developed specially to suit the Indian needs. It’s the only procedure where constant supervision is kept for continuous five days and a simulated environment is provided to gauge the capabilities of the candidates so that they prove their worthiness and earn the coveted title of serving our motherland.

But the question is what they look in those five days. Very simple they only look for few aspects of our personality that are core to us. The todays heading answers all the doubts as these are the only aspects that are being judged at SSB. To understand the core aspects of one personality one should self-introspect on following key area:
  • How a person is brought up?
  • What important events have shaped his/her life and the impact of such events?
  • Which places and facilities I have lived with?
  • Who all are the important people one has lived with and the impact of the thought process of such people?
  • Vision/ Mission of one’s life?
Moral value system taught by parents and the values that has been followed?
One of my mentee asked me during the personal mentorship that I provide that what all should I do while doing self-introspection , and hence I write this article to suggest that self-personality introspection is essential to see where one stands and where one need to go. Once this thought process is complete one can realise that life is a jargon of various principals and other value system and few have been embedded in us by our parents and they are difficult to change as a person grow up . Understand it by an example of a seed that one plants. Once the seed has saplings and grows into a plant it can be transplanted at different places, but if it grows too big can you move it out?  But then what should one do?

gen bikram singh

Should we sit like this and relax thinking that now I cannot change and nothing could happen. There are ways to everything and I will cover it in Part 2 of this series. Still if you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected]or add me on Fb and drop in a message. Let’s travel the success path together because it’s all about improving personality and not getting ready made material made by some other personality. I would call it imposition rather than modification.
