Minimum Percentage Required To Join Indian Army, Air Force, and Indian Navy: So there is a lot of confusion among candidates regarding the minimum percentage required to join the Indian army, airforce, and navy as an officer.

As there are different entries to join the forces and each one of them has certain eligibility criteria. In this post, we are going to tell you how much percentage you should have in your graduation or post-graduation to join the Indian army, airforce or navy. We are going to present the cut-off marks required for each entry like CDS NDA AFCAT, TGC, SSC Tech, TES, UES, Territorial army and other Indian navy direct entries.

Minimum Percentage Required for The Indian Army

  • NDA Exam: If you are writing NDA exam after 12th, there is no minimum cut off marks required in 12th but you should clear your 12th exam. If you clear your NDA written
    test, SSB interview and Medical, but still you did not clear your 10+2 exams, you won’t be able to join the National Defence Academy.
  • CDS Exam: Again for CDS exam there is no fixed percentage, you just need to be a graduate and of course you need to pass the CDS exam. Candidates who are studying in the final year/semester Degree course and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided candidate should not have any present backlog upto the last semester / year for which results have been declared upto the time of submission of application.
  • TES: TES also known as Technical Entry Scheme for candidates to join the technical wing of the Indian army after their 10+2. TES minimum percentage is around 80-85% aggregate in PCM [Physics, Chemistry and Maths]. Candidates with 70% can apply for the TES, but they hardly get shortlisted as Indian army keep the final cut off marks around 80%.
  • UES: UES stands for University entry scheme where candidates can apply of Indian army UES entry in their pre-final year of engineering(BE & Btech). Candidates must have
    70% aggregate till their 6th semester.
  • TGC: TGC stands for Technical Graduate Course similar to UES entry, candidates in final year and candidates who have passed out can apply for TGC entry. Final cut off mark for TGC could vary from 50% – 75% till 6th semester, this might change as per the respective course.
  • NCC Special entry: Graduate with aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks of all the years. Those studying in final year are also allowed to apply  provided they have secured minimum 50% aggregate marks in the first two/three years of three/four years degree course respectively. Such students will need to secure overall aggregate of minimum 50% marks if selected in interview, failing which their candidature will be CANCELLED. The candidate should have served for minimum two academic years in the senior Division/Wing of NCC and should have obtained minimum of ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ Certificate Exam of NCC.
  • AEC: Army Education Corps notification comes along with the TGC entry. Minimum percentage required is around 50% as not many candidates apply for this entry. Kindly check the respective notification for the correct details.
  • RVC entry: There is no minimum percentage required for the same.
  • SSC Tech Men: Minimum percentage required to get shortlisted is around 50% – 85% till the 6th semester.
  • SSC Tech Women: Minimum percentage required to get shortlisted is around 50% – 85% till the 6th semester.

Minimum Percentage Required for The Indian Air Force

  • CDS Exam: Again for CDS exam there is no fixed percentage, you just need to be a graduate and of course you need to pass the CDS exam.
  • AFCAT Exam: To apply for this exam candidate must have minimum 60% aggregate. Also, candidates with the active backlogs are not allowed for AFSB interview. Candidates applying for flying must have Maths and Physics with minimum 60% in 10+2.
  • Fast Track Selection: Same rules apply as AFCAT.
  • NDA Exam: If you are writing NDA exam after 12th, there is no minimum cut off marks required in 12th but you should clear your 12th exam. If you clear your NDA written
    test, SSB interview and Medical, but still you did not clear your 10+2 exams, you won’t be able to join the National Defence Academy.

Minimum Percentage Required for The Indian Navy

  • NDA Exam: If you are writing NDA exam after 12th, there is no minimum cut off marks required in 12th but you should clear your 12th exam. If you clear your NDA written
    test, SSB interview and Medical, but still you did not clear your 10+2 exams, you won’t be able to join the National Defence Academy.
  • CDS Exam: Again for CDS exam there is no fixed percentage, you just need to be a graduate and of course you need to pass the CDS exam.
  • SSC Pilot and Observer: Candidates can directly apply for SSB interview, cut off percentage remains around 75%. Final cut-off may vary.
  • 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme (B. Tech): Minimum 70% aggregate in PCM. Final cut-off may vary.
  • UES: Indian Navy University Entry Scheme needs minimum 60% aggregate till VIth semester for BE/BTech and VIII semester for 5 years Integrated Degree Course).
  • Technical and Executive Branch: Minimum required percentage would be around 70%.
  • Others: Minimum required percentage 70%.

These minimum required percentages are not fixed and may vary as per the course requirements. Candidates are required to read the notification carefully before applying. Most of these courses might or might not have cut-off requirements at the time of applying, but while shortlisting of candidates, you might have to clear the declared cut off percentage.
