14 Sure Shot Tips To Succeed In SSB

Hello Warriors! I was asked by aspirants about things to do and not to do in SSB and for tips to help them prepare for SSB. I want to make it clear that, cracking SSB is not an easy task. Having said that, I’d also like to add that it is not mission impossible either! Here, I’ll share some valuable tips with you which will help you a sure shot selection in the SSBs. But hey, these tips won’t work like magic. You must implement and practice these tips. Then, I can guarantee that you’ll nail the SSB selection!

The first and foremost thing to make up your mind is the fact to remember that you are not competing with other candidates, which is a very major misconception to many (particularly, freshers). All of you will be assigned against a common standard of suitability called the OLQs and it is possible for everyone in a group to be recommended or to not be recommended.

  1. First things first, keep in mind the complete procedure of SSB; about what you are expected to do there.

  2. Good candidates show extremely keen interest, inquisitiveness and insight in the surroundings that are highly motivated to acquire maximum knowledge in every sphere. Therefore, it is advised to brush up your knowledge.

  3. All SSB interviews emphasize on some common topics. These common topics are- India, Indian Politics, History of India, India and its current affairs, Armed Forces in India etc. Questions about these topics are almost always asked during personal interviews, group discussion etc. Make sure that you read and study these topics extensively. Preparing and keeping your own ‘notes’ will help. With the use of the internet, you may get all the necessary knowledge for free!

  4. Jot down all the points that you will talk in an interview. For creating a chain of thought, it is always good to note down all the topics on which you may talk to Interviewers in the whole Interview like about yourself, what others think about you, et al.

  5. An interview is about interacting with people. Hence, you can start learning by talking to your family members or friends in a formal manner. Practice in Front of a Mirror to get confidence for facing an interview. This is an old age technique.

  6. Never assume that you can crack SSB just preparing overnight. It is a long process and you have to give due time. Being consistent and determined is the key to success.

  7. Meet your seniors or other candidates who have cleared SSB. Talk to them and get knowledge about their experiences. It will give you an idea. If that do not turns out to be in your favor, then stay updated to SSBCrack.com , the site is for this purpose itself.

  8. Be aware of the tough climate; practice time management accordingly. Usually, the interviews are held at time, when the climate is extreme. For example, consider the SSB interview held at Allahabad in January. At that time, the place would be too cold and you won’t be able to write fast because of ‘cold and frozen’ hands! And writing fast is the key in most of the Group Tasks.

  9. Exercise regularly, eat well, eat good food. The obstacle course is a real ‘bonus round’. You can score high score if you’re in good shape and have good fitness level.

  10. Take coaching from reputed tutorials to crack an interview there you will meet other like-minded candidates and a better chance to prepare beforehand. Although taking coaching is a good topic of debate, I insist on going for it to the aspirants who are not confident about themselves or are freshers.

  11. You have to prepare yourself psychologically and mentally before you give an attempt. Both preparations take time.

  12. Body language should be positive and relaxed. Not sloppy and tired. You must be active and energetic for the interview. Eye contact is the first thing that is going to happen with interviewers. Hence, eye contact should be normal and you should always shake hands with them. When you are going for the interview, dress formally. Do not wear informal clothes as it looks unprofessional. Avoid using perfumes or deodorant with strong smell as it distracts the attention of assessors. Attire must match your personality. If you are dark then wear light colored clothes, if you are fair then you can wear dark colored clothes.

  13. Your mind should be open without any negativity. It is easy to come negative thoughts so have an open mind.

  14. Finally, an interview for SSB is all about your personality. Yes! academic qualification does matter but it is the OLQs that is more important.14 Sure Shot Tips To Succeed In SSB
