Hello Friends,
I (PRINCE CHANDRA) am a small town boy from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Being a son of Indian Army Soldier, I got a chance to see the defense life closely. I did my entire schooling through Army Schools. I visited different military stations & got influenced by the military lifestyle.
Since my childhood, I made my passion, my dream to join the INDIAN ARMY. The defense life amazed me, the respect, the glory, the dignity, the proud, it all charmed me. And I wanted it so badly. And it become like TWO STARS ON THE SHOULDER, ARE BETTER THEN A MILLION ON IN SKIES!! During the final year of my engineering, the opportunity to do something worth doing knocked my door, & I gave the following attempts:
- 04-01-15, UES-24 ARMY, SSC BHOPAL, CONFERENCE OUT.
- 22-02-15, AFCAT-2-14, 4-AFSB, VARANASI CONFERENCE OUT.
- 14-06-15, SSCT-45, SSC BHOPAL, CONFERENCE OUT.
- 23-08-15, INDIAN COAST GUARD, DELHI, CONFERENCE OUT.
Though my above attempts went unsuccessful, but they proved to be the stepping stones for the final VICTORY & GLORY. Finally I gave my Golden attempt. On 29th August on the auspicious day of Rakshabandhan, I set out on my Journey from Delhi to Bangalore.
- NOV 14: I Filled my CDS form.
- 15-02-15: I gave my CDS exam.
- 03-06-15: CDS results & I was selected for ARMY, NAVY SSB.
- 01-09-15: Wearing the chest No: 76, I got screened in, Batch No: N-CSE/68192.
- 05-09-15: KRISHNA JANMASTAMI / TEACHERS DAY / PRINCE CHANDRA RECOMMENDED.
- 10-09-15: Medically Recommended.
Though am not superstitious, but following can be noted:
- Wearing Chest No: 23, I appeared at SSB 24 Bangalore, got recommended & got medical chest number 25.
- When I was born it was Saturday & Krishna Janmastami. 23 years later again it was Saturday & Krishna Janmastami, wearing d chest no. 23, I got recommended.
- My UPSC roll no: 106105, was also amazing.
SSB interviews are famous for their uniqueness & content. ADVENTUROUS OPPORTUNITY, THE GOLDEN GATE can be short & sweet descriptions about SSB’s. I feel I made some amazing friends in the 5 SSB’s I gave. Giving SSB interviews is an amazing experience, getting up 4:30 daily, the funny Bra’s (Chest NO’s), the groupism during the GTO tasks, the fun-filled interactions with ustads, we trying to give d gentlemen’s attitude, getting a trailer of the discipline of the defense life, creation of whatsapp group after the SSB & the promises to stay connected. It happens many times that you meet again your long gone friends & acquaintances in SSB’s. Basically SSB is a centre for National integration. A first timer would always mesmerized to see such things. Doesn’t matter if it’s a fresher or a repeater, everyone misses GREENERY in SSB, & boys I hope you know, what Greenery am talking about!!
- 04-12-15: Finally the much awaited UPSC Merit list came out. Previously, out of 7,00,000 (approx.) CDS candidates, 4787, 2921 and 595 got selected for SSB interview for ARMY, NAVY, AIRFORCE respectively. Out of those 118, 70, and 02 finally appeared in the UPSC merit list for IMA, INA & AFA respectively. I got SELECTED for IMA, INA & OTA. What a feeling it was!! THERE WAS A GLARE IN MY EYES & TEARS OF HAPPINESS IN MY MOM-DAD’S EYES! I was intoxicated & proud to see my name on the list. It was a DREAM COME TRUE!! My patience, hard work & sincerity to join the INDIAN DEFENSE forces was rewarded & the crown finally came to our heads. My Parents, family & friends all are happy for me. And now begins an endless row of partying & Celebrations. I got AIR 97 for IMA & AIR 57 for INA.
- 09-12-15: The JOINING LETTER cum INSTRUCTIONS reached home
- 13-12-15: The merit list came out on Indian ARMY website.
Now I face the DILEMMA weather to join ARMY or NAVY. Both are equally outstanding options, but I personally prefer to go with ARMY, as by doing so I would continue the family tradition & start just where my father left. It feels great to get in his shoes. Plus all my seniors & friends are in the army.
An entire year of the selection process has come an end (NOV14 – DEC15). There were moments of disappointments after getting not recommended for 4 times, but I am grateful to my family & friends for believing in me, constant support & motivating me in the low times, cheering me up again & again. Everyone has a hero, a role model in their life’s. For me that’s my FATHER: Ex. NAIB SUBEDAR SHAMBHU LAL CHANDRA. THANKYOU DAD for everything, YOU are my HERO.
- 25-12-15: MERRY CHRISTMAS. This would be my last Christmas as a civilian. It would be my last working day in ELECTROMECH MATERIAL HANDLING SYSTEMS INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED. I am proud to have served a short tenure of 6 months as an ELECTRICAL DESIGNER.
- 01-01-16: HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!! A new life, a new journey, adventure, honour, dignity, discipline, Service to mother nation AWAITS!!
- 07-01-16: I board my train for the VOYAGE! BON VOYAGE!!
- 09-01-16: REPORTING at IMA, DEHRADUN.
- 12-01-12: COMMENCEMENT of IMA-140 COURSE. BOYS STAY WITH MUMMA!! MEN JOIN THE ARMY!!
