Tejas Induction – The domestically built Tejas’s first squadron is inducted into the Indian Air Force. The induction was delayed by more than 2 decades. The project was pined up in 1983 and was planned to be completed by 1994. But some subsequent delays led by certain causes that made IAF to wait for its induction. The aim of building it was to replace the Russian Mig-21. The jet can run at a speed of about 1.2 Mach, carry about 3,500 kgs of payload and can fly unto a height of 15,000 meters.

MRSAM – Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM), a joint venture of India’s DRDO and Israel’s Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) was successfully conducted on 1st July. The missile is capable of neutralizing any aerial threat in a range of 70kms. Sources revealed emphasize of its use in sensitive areas of the nation. It is the land version of LRSAM (Long Range Surface to Air Missile), which is also a joint project of DRDO and IAI.

Supersonic Interceptor Missile Test – India successfully test fired the supersonic interceptor missile from Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha in Bay of Bengal. It involved the launch of single-stage Ashwin Advanced Defense Interceptor missile, which successfully destroyed nuclear capable Dhanush missile at an altitude of 20-40 kms.

Su-30 MKI with Brahmos – In a recent trail, Su-30 MKI of IAF flew with BRAHMOS, which gave the aircraft, the weapon multi-platform capability. The missile has got a range of 290 kms. The test brought closer the future test of firing of the air-to surface variant of this missile. The Top brass of IAF are calling it a deadly combination.

Women Pilots – Soon Indian skies will be guarded by some of the best women pilots of the IAF. The march out parade of 3 women, who are the first to join IAF as Pilot showed the positive move by top authorities. They are the newest power inducted into IAF to guard the skies of Indian skies. The step is a game changer in the field of flying branch of IAF. Many nations have given this role to women and now India is on the verge of joining the group.

Conclusion – India is going through a tough military situation these days after China and Pakistan were found intervening in international affairs of India, which seemed to be the turning point for India. The defensive approach by India is emerging as the first priority for India. With the above tests and induction, Indian skies are safer and future steps will make the scenario more favorable for India.
