How I Cleared NDA SSB In 1st Attempt: Recommended For National Defence Academy

Hello warriors, my name is Prasad Kohinkar and I belong to Pune.I passed my 10+2 this year and gave my NDA written exam in April and later cleared it. I don’t have any defence background,’dooor dooor taak no one in armed forces! ‘and also I come from a humble background where my parents were not able to complete their matriculation due to financial problems.

Since childhood I was attracted towards aircrafts as I used to see Sukhois flying everyday above my building and performing amazing manoeuvres along with dog fights.Everyday Sonic Booms of Su30s was my motivation. So I was very serious about my dreams and decided to become a Fighter Pilot.

Preparation:

I started preparing for ssb from the day itself the written results were declared. First I visited internet from ssbcrack.com  and started reading about it. Later I purchased books and joined a Institute. Later on I realised that SSB is the test to find SUITABLE cadets for the Job and not only CAPABLE ones. They want an average person who has all the OFFICER LIKE QUALITIES and the most important of all is HONESTY. Remember Guys HONESTY is the quality which cannot be traded with any other quality ,whatsoever. So be honest and show what really you are! Use coaching ONLY to familiarize yourself with the tests and increase your Confidence levels and communication skills. Also learn what not to do there and the military code of conducts as retired officers teach at institutes. Try to show them your passion and how serious you are about it. For preps of Psychic start from your SDT by doing Self-Introspection and then write TAT, SRT,WAT according to it. Try to show maximum YOU in Psychic, don’t bluff. The officers testing you have tested thousands of candidates before you. They will catch if you do so and you won’t be recommended

2 AFSB, Mysore

Day #1: 29th August 2016

We were instructed to report at railway station at 6:45 am.There were 250 Candidates eligible but only 165 reported. We were taken to afsb by bus where we deposited our phones.Documentation started thereafter for 2 hours and after that breakfast was served.OIR Test was conducted in a Huge AC hall for 1 Hr.Then chest Nos were distributed and half of the candidates were taken to a hall where they were shown a picture for PPDT.It was most vague picture I had ever seen! Still I wrote a POSITIVE story based on a social theme. Later there was a discussion between 20 of us.I scored  in Narration but our group discussion was a fish market,no common story.I was in stress whether I would be screened in?But results were declared and 96 of us were screened in!We were given bedding in AASHIAYANA candidates mess of Afsb.

Day #2:   30th August 2016

Day 2 was time for CPSS and PABT.We were given new chest nos, mine was 62.I was very excited as clearing this test will earn me wings. But the unexpected happened, as I had 0.5 D specs, all candidates with specs were separated and were not allowed to give test as mentioned in upsc notification.I regretted that I should have hidden my specs and gone ,but HONESTY matters as each person there keeps a watch on you.The day went without anything to do accept the fantastic motivation room of Air Force.Seriously it was like a heaven for me as there were aircraft models, books, mannequin dressed in IAF uniforms with the WINGS on it,etc,etc…..

Day #3:   31st August 2016

Day 3 was the Psychology Test @7am .I meditated before that for 30 Mins and then kept calm and started it.It went well as expected ,I Completed 59 WATs,57 SRTs+all TATs and SDT.After that according to timetable it was my interview immediately after it.This was an advantage for me as I could remember everything that I wrote in psychology test and answer according to it preventing conflicts. The interview started 3 Hrs late and it was conducted by 1 Wg Cdr and the other officer was watching me and noting something. The interview was purely based on my personal life with only 5% GK questions.I said everything honestly and also showed the officer my passion regarding it through words. It lasted 45-50 Mins.It went quite unexpected; that questions  weren’t expected. But remained Firm on my answers didn’t change and admitted what I didn’t know frankly.how-i-cleared-nda-ssb-in-1st-attempt

Day#4:

The day was free for me as my Group tasks were scheduled the next day.I would also like to add that AFSB mysore has the best food and accommodation services. It’s great for non-vegetarians as there is non-veg everyday  fish, chicken….There is no chance for hunger as we are served food 6 times a day!!TV room,CSD canteen,STD booths,ICE CREAM parlour and what not xD !I went for a book out and visited Mysore Palace and Mall with new friends that were from across INDIA.Got to exchange the knowledge about each other’s culture which made me remember ‘Saare Jahaan Se Accha Hindustaan Humara ‘ !

Day #5:

Day 5 was all about Group Tasks. It started early in the morning @7am.I patiently spoke point wise during GD and GPE and avoided explanations; be precise, let others speak.PGT also went good we completed all 4 obstacles in 15 Mins cooperating and appreciating each others point of view.HGT was also easy. Command Task was the most exciting one and the GTO gave me the hardest one. But I came out with flying colours. I completed all 10 obstacles in IO test starting from the hardest, Rope climbing. They actually give less than 3 mins to complete.FGT was also great and easy.Overall ,GT was my best performance among psychology and PI .

Day #6:

Finally the day of conference came.Everyone was nervous so was I.Before my turn there was 15 mins discussion and then I was called. It lasted or 5 Mins where many questions were asked regarding my success and failure. It was a long wait for results as conference went for 10 hours due to high number of candidates.First they declared CPSS results. Then came the chest nos of recommended ones.My heart was beating like a Machine gun Rapidly! And then the DSO called CHEST NO.62!My eyes were filled with tears of joy!Flashback of all the hard work my me and my parents came before my eyes.16 got through,Dreams had come true.

When I called up and informed m dad, he was also in tears. Then we were made to fill documents ,3 Hrs evening and 6 hours the next morning. Medical Date was also given which is on 26th September 2016 @Bengluru

Finally we were given our phones and dropped back to Railway station.

Now hoping to clear Medical and Merit List.
