Lieutenant General Satinder Kumar Saini,ย PVSM,ย AVSM,ย YSM,ย VSM, ADC is the currentย Vice Chief of the Army Staffย of theย Indian Armyย who assumed the office on 25 January 2020.ย He previously served asย General Officer Commanding in Chiefย (GOC-in-C)ย Southern Command. Gen Saini is an alumnus ofย Sainik School, Kapurthala,ย National Defence Academy, Pune; andย Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He has also attended the Army Command and Staff Course atย Staff College, Camberley;ย Royal Military College of Science,ย Shrivenham; andย National Defence College, Dhaka. He has a total of three degrees in defence and strategic studies. During 36 years of his career, he has been awarded theย Ati Vishisht Seva Medalย (2018), theย Yudh Seva Medal, theย Vishisht Seva Medal, the Chief of Army Staff Commendation and the Army Commander Commendation for his service.
