Meet Lt Cdr Prerna Deosthalee, First Woman Officer To Command a Warship

Commander Deosthalee is a native of Mumbai and began her service with the Indian Navy in 2009.

Commander Prerna Deosthalee has been named the first female officer in the Indian Navy to take command of an Indian Naval Warship. Currently serving as the First Lieutenant on the warship INS Chennai, Commander Deosthalee is a native of Mumbai and began her service with the Indian Navy in 2009.

In addition, she has been appointed as the commanding officer of INS Trinkat, stationed in Goa. This significant appointment was marked by the presentation of the appointment letter from Western Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Praveen Nair, officially recognizing her as the Commanding Officer of the Waterjet Fast Attack Craft INS Trinkat.
