In a commendable initiative to extend healthcare services to the remotest parts of the country, the Indian Armed Forces have collaborated with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) under the Government of India’s Vibrant Village Program.
This partnership aims to bridge the healthcare gap experienced by citizens in distant villages, ensuring they receive the medical attention they deserve.
The inauguration of a Medical & Dental Camp in Chipsu village, situated in the Gangtok Tehsil along India’s northern borders, marks a significant milestone in this initiative. Lieutenant General SC Dash, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Medical) at HQ IDS India, led the inauguration ceremony, highlighting the armed forces’ commitment to nation-building beyond their traditional roles.
This camp, a joint effort by the Trishakti Corps along with the Community Health Centres (CHC) and Primary Health Centres (PHC) of East Sikkim District, offered comprehensive healthcare support to over 250 villagers. Many of these individuals have long struggled with accessing even the most basic medical facilities due to the remote nature of their locations.
The services provided at the camp included general health check-ups, dental care, and awareness sessions on various health issues. Such initiatives not only provide immediate relief to those in need but also contribute to the overall well-being and development of remote communities.
The Indian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s collaborative efforts under the Vibrant Village Program are a testament to their dedication to serving the nation and its people, reinforcing the concept of nation-building through healthcare.
