The squadron, comprising INS Tir and CGS Sarathi, embarked on this voyage to strengthen bilateral relations and foster interoperability between the Indian Navy and the Mauritius Coast Guard.

The visit, which coincided with the 57th Mauritius National Day celebrations, served as a poignant reminder of the deep-rooted maritime ties between India and Mauritius. The Indian naval contingent, accompanied by a helicopter, participated in the Mauritius National Day city parade, adding grandeur to the festivities.

The parade was graced by the esteemed presence of Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the Hon’ble President of India, who attended as the Chief Guest, symbolizing the strong bonds of friendship between the two nations.

For the Indian Naval trainees, the visit proved to be an enriching experience as they had the opportunity to interact with their Mauritian counterparts and gain insights into the maritime capabilities of Mauritius.

Visits to the Maritime Air Squadron and Police Helicopter Squadron of Mauritius provided valuable exposure to the operational dynamics of the Mauritian maritime forces.

As part of the cross-training initiative, the Indian Navy conducted training sessions for National Coast Guard personnel of Mauritius on small arms handling and firefighting techniques aboard the 1TS ships. This exchange of expertise not only enhanced the skill sets of the Mauritian personnel but also strengthened the collaborative efforts in maritime safety and security.

The visit also witnessed joint exercises aimed at enhancing interoperability between the Indian Navy and the Mauritius Coast Guard. Participating in Passage Exercise (PASSEX) and Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) exercises, the naval forces of both countries showcased their operational readiness and seamless coordination in maritime operations.

Additionally, joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance was conducted, demonstrating the commitment of both nations to safeguarding the maritime domain.

The successful conclusion of the visit underscores the shared commitment of India and Mauritius to regional security and stability. It highlights the enduring cultural, diplomatic, and strategic partnership between the two nations, reaffirming their resolve to work together for the peace and prosperity of the Indian Ocean region.
