Indian Navy and IIT Kharagpur Join Forces for Technological Advancement

In a significant stride towards fostering innovation and technological advancement, the Indian Navy and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur have formalized their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi, today.

The MoU underscores the shared commitment of both institutions to promote technology development, innovative solutions, and joint research and development (R&D) initiatives.

Rear Admiral K Srinivas, Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyard & Refit) at Naval Headquarters, and Professor (Ms) Rintu Banerjee, Dean (R&D) of IIT Kharagpur, sealed the partnership by signing the MoU in the presence of Professor Virendra Kumar Tiwari, Director of IIT Kharagpur.

The ceremony marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at leveraging the expertise and resources of both organizations to drive technological innovation and address critical challenges faced by the Indian Navy.

The collaboration between the Indian Navy and IIT Kharagpur will focus on joint research and development initiatives, with teams from both institutions working together to tackle complex technological problems and explore innovative solutions.

The MoU outlines a framework for cooperation and coordination, with INS Shivaji, Lonavala, designated as the coordinating authority for overseeing the implementation of joint projects and initiatives.
