The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy Ships, Bushehr and Tonb, led by Commanders Mahdi Belvardi and Mohammad Hajizadeh respectively, with Captain Hasan Beygi serving as the Mission Commander, concluded a significant four-day visit to Mumbai, from March 15 to 18. The vessels were greeted with a traditional warm welcome upon their arrival, marking a notable moment of international naval camaraderie.
The visiting ships are an integral part of the Iranian Training Flotilla, which is currently facilitating the training of 240 officer cadets. This visit underscores the ongoing commitment to enhancing professional and diplomatic ties between Iran and India, offering a platform for the cadets to gain invaluable maritime experience.
During their stay, the Mission Commander and commanding officers, along with Colonel Hasan Momeni, the Iranian Defence Attaché, engaged in constructive discussions with Rear Admiral CR Praveen Nair, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet (FOCWF), focusing on areas of mutual interest and avenues for further cooperation between the two nations’ navies.
The visit included several professional and social interactions aimed at strengthening bonds and sharing naval expertise. One of the highlights was an educational tour of the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai, specifically arranged for the Iranian naval officer cadets, providing them with a unique opportunity to observe and learn from the operations of the Indian Navy.
The presence of His Excellency Davoud Rezaei Eskandari, the Consul General of Iran, during the ship visit, further emphasized the importance of the event as a step towards fostering greater understanding and cooperation between Iran and India.
