In a remarkable display of precision and inter-service coordination, an Indian Army jawan who accidentally severed his hand while operating machinery at a forward-area unit was swiftly airlifted to Delhi for emergency surgery.
The incident occurred in the Ladakh sector, where the jawan was performing routine duties.
The Army personnel faced a critical window of 6 to 8 hours within which the surgery needed to be performed to save his appendage. Responding to the emergency, an Indian Air Force (IAF) C-130J aircraft was deployed within an hour to transport the injured jawan to the Research and Referral (R&R) Hospital in Delhi.
The airlift was conducted under challenging conditions using Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) during the dark hours, underscoring the capabilities and readiness of the IAF. Upon arrival in Delhi, the jawan received immediate medical attention from a dedicated team of medical professionals.
