Exercise Chindits Conducted at OTA Gaya

As the cadets of OTA Gaya continue to undergo rigorous training, their performance in exercises like Chindits is a clear indicator of their preparedness to embrace the responsibilities of military leadership.

Officer Cadets at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya, Bihar, recently demonstrated exceptional mental and physical strength in Exercise Chindits, living up to the Academy’s esteemed motto, “Shaurya, Gyan, Sankalp” (Courage, Knowledge, Resolve). This exercise is a testament to the cadets’ hard work and dedication, signaling their readiness to become future leaders of the Indian Army.

EXERCISE CHINDITS 1

OTA Gaya, a cornerstone in the Indian Army’s training regime, was established in 2011 and boasts a training capacity of 750 cadets. Nestled in the hilly terrain of Paharpur, Gaya, the Academy offers a rigorous training program designed to prepare cadets for the challenges of military leadership. The state-of-the-art training facilities ensure that the Officer Cadets are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to serve their country with distinction.

EXERCISE CHINDITS 2

The Academy trains cadets under the 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES) and Special Commissioned Officers (SCO) entry, from 2024 officer cadets of SSC Tech entry are being trained at OTA Gaya instead of OTA Chennai. The TES entry is designed for male candidates who have achieved a minimum of 70% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the 10+2 level and are keen on pursuing an engineering career in the Army. Meanwhile, the SCO entry offers a unique pathway for existing Indian Army soldiers to ascend to commissioned ranks, emphasizing the inclusive and diverse career opportunities within the military.

Since its inception, OTA Gaya has been committed to molding the future leaders of the Indian Army. The Academy’s insignia, featuring two crossed swords superimposed with the Dharmchakra against a grey and blood-red background, encapsulates the spirit of bravery, knowledge, and determination that it seeks to instill in its cadets.

The first batch of 149 trainee officers embarked on their journey in July 2011, culminating in the first passing out parade on June 8, 2012. Since then, OTA Gaya has been instrumental in shaping the leaders who will steer the Indian Army towards new horizons of excellence and valor.

As the cadets of OTA Gaya continue to undergo rigorous training, their performance in exercises like Chindits is a clear indicator of their preparedness to embrace the responsibilities of military leadership.
