President Droupadi Murmu made her first visit to Indian Navy ships at sea, witnessing a significant operational demonstration off the coast of Goa. Her arrival at INS Hansa, the naval air station, was marked by a ceremonial Guard of Honour featuring 150 personnel, underscoring the importance of her visit.
Boarding the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, President Murmu observed operations alongside 15 other frontline warships and submarines. The demonstration was comprehensive, showcasing various naval exercises that highlighted the capabilities of the Indian Navy. Among the activities were deck-based fighter jet take-offs and landings, missile firing drills, and intricate submarine manoeuvres. One of the key highlights was a flypast that displayed over 30 aircraft, illustrating the strength and coordination within the fleet.
The operational demonstration concluded with a traditional steam-past of the warships, a ceremonial display that signifies naval strength and operational readiness.
Following the demonstration, President Murmu engaged with the crew of INS Vikrant during a luncheon, providing an opportunity for direct interaction between the head of the state and naval personnel. In a broader gesture of connectivity, she delivered an address to the fleet, which was broadcasted to all Navy units currently at sea, reinforcing the unity and morale of the naval forces across operational theaters. The visit not only marked a significant moment in her presidency but also underscored the Indian Navy’s commitment to maintaining readiness and showcasing its capabilities in a dynamic maritime environment.
