Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi Commends Historic Inclusion of Women Musicians in Indian Navy’s Republic Day Parade 2025

New Delhi, January 20, 2025 – In a landmark event for gender diversity, the Indian Navy has proudly included six women musicians in its contingent for the Republic Day Parade 2025, setting a new precedent for inclusivity within the military forces. This historic inclusion was highlighted during an interaction between Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), and the parade contingent on January 20, 2025.

Admiral Tripathi lauded the contingent for their impeccable discipline, dedication, and commitment, emphasizing that their participation in this prestigious occasion symbolizes the strength and pride of the nation. The CNS inspired the participants to strive for excellence, urging them to embody the service’s core values of Duty, Honour, and Courage during the parade.

Women Musicians in Indian Navy

This year’s parade, scheduled for January 26, 2025, is part of India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations, which will feature a grand display of military strength, heritage, and technological advancements. The event will take place on Kartavya Path near India Gate in New Delhi, showcasing not only the might of the Indian Armed Forces but also cultural elements from various regions, including Karnataka, to emphasize India’s rich heritage.

The inclusion of women in the naval band is a significant step towards promoting ‘Nari Shakti’ (women’s power) within the defense sector, reflecting India’s commitment to gender equality and diversity. Admiral Tripathi expressed that the hard work and dedication of the contingent would inspire millions of young leaders across the nation and the world, encouraging them to give their best performance to make both the Navy and the nation proud.

The parade preparations are in full swing, with various regiments of the Indian Army, including the Guards, Jat, Mahar, JAK Rifles, Garhwal, and Signals Regiments, also participating. Additionally, the event will feature aerial displays by Light Combat Helicopters and Advanced Light Helicopters, along with performances by military and pipe bands, adding to the grandeur of the occasion.

This move by the Indian Navy not only underscores the importance of inclusivity but also highlights the evolving role of women in traditionally male-dominated fields, setting a powerful example for future generations.
