In a significant boost to the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force (IAF), GARUD Commando trainees recently visited the National Security Guard (NSG) Training Centre in Manesar, Haryana. The visit, which took place on January 18, 2025, as reported by
Focused on advanced training in Counter IED (Improvised Explosive Device) and CBRNe (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and explosive) environment-based Counter-Terrorism (CT) operations.
During their visit, the trainees were briefed on the complex dynamics of operating in environments where IEDs and CBRNe threats are prevalent. The NSG Commandos, known for its rigorous training programs, provided insights into the strategic and tactical approaches necessary for neutralizing such threats, ensuring the IAF commandos are well-prepared for modern warfare scenarios.
Additionally, the GARUD Commandos trainees received specialized training in Post-Blast Operations Analysis, which is critical for understanding the aftermath of explosive incidents to prevent future attacks.
This training session was conducted at the National Bomb Data Centre, where the commandos were introduced to Project NIDMS (National Integrated Database on Management of Suicide and Bombing incidents). This project aims to enhance the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data related to bomb incidents across the nation, providing valuable intelligence and operational insights.
The collaboration between the IAF GARUD Commandos and the NSG Commandos underscores the commitment of India’s security forces to inter-branch training and knowledge sharing, ensuring that they remain at the forefront of counter-terrorism and national security efforts. This initiative not only strengthens the capabilities of the GARUD Commandos but also reinforces the synergy between different elements of India’s defence and security apparatus in tackling contemporary security challenges.
