In a recent visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (ANI), Surgeon Vice Admiral Kavita Sahai, SM, VSM, Director General Medical Services (Navy), conducted a comprehensive review of the region’s medical infrastructure. The visit encompassed key naval establishments and healthcare facilities, reflecting the Navy’s commitment to providing world-class medical care in strategically significant locations.
During her tour, the Vice Admiral reviewed the medical facilities at Diglipur, where she assessed the healthcare preparedness and operational readiness of the medical units. She interacted with the personnel and appreciated their efforts in maintaining high standards of medical care for service members and their families.
The tour continued with visits to INS Kohassa and District Headquarters 9 (DHQ9). At these locations, Vice Admiral Sahai commended the units for their meticulous upkeep and proactive approach in ensuring the availability of essential medical services in remote island territories.
Her itinerary also included a visit to INS Baaz, India’s southernmost air station located at Campbell Bay. She reviewed the Integrated Medical Station, scrutinizing the operational capabilities and medical preparedness of the facility. The Vice Admiral expressed her appreciation for the exemplary maintenance and efficient functioning of the medical units, acknowledging their role in supporting the operational effectiveness of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC).
