The Indian Army took a decisive step toward battlefield modernisation with the high-impact demonstration of ‘Prachand Shakti’ conducted by the Ram Division at the Kharga Corps Field Training Area in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. The exercise, held on Monday, showcased the transformative role of disruptive technologies in real-time combat scenarios, underscoring the Army’s evolving operational doctrine.
The core focus of the exercise was the deployment of cutting-edge systems—ranging from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and loitering munitions to AI-enabled targeting platforms and autonomous combat systems—by infantry formations integrated into Strike Corps operations. These demonstrations reflect the Army’s strategic commitment to innovation, agility, and future-readiness in an increasingly complex threat environment.

Officials said the event was aligned with the Indian Army’s ‘Year of Tech Absorption’ initiative, which aims to integrate indigenous and advanced technological solutions, many developed by civilian innovators, into military operations. It also marks a significant move toward the goals of self-reliance outlined under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission.
“The primary objective of Prachand Shakti was to highlight how disruptive technologies can enhance the lethality, survivability, and rapid response capability of infantry formations conducting deep-strike operations,” said an Army spokesperson. “Such platforms are no longer futuristic—they are shaping battlefield outcomes today.”

The demonstration highlighted scenarios involving swarms of UAVs conducting reconnaissance, AI-based command and control modules coordinating fire support, and precision-guided loitering munitions neutralizing simulated enemy targets. These real-time showcases represent the Indian Army’s growing embrace of tech-driven solutions for strategic and tactical superiority.

As hybrid and multi-domain warfare become increasingly prevalent, exercises like Prachand Shakti reaffirm the Army’s push to modernize conventional operations while preparing for emerging threats from state and non-state actors alike. The event also served to demonstrate the synergy between defense forces and India’s innovation ecosystem, paving the way for further technological integration in the armed forces.
