Northern Army Commander Reviews Combat Readiness at Bimber Gali Brigade Along LoC

Lt Gen Pratik Sharma emphasizes operational vigilance and morale amid rising cross-border challenges.

Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, conducted a high-profile visit to the strategically important Bimber Gali Brigade to assess the operational preparedness of Indian Army units deployed along the Line of Control with Pakistan.

Joined by senior officers from the White Knight Corps and the Ace of Spades Corps, the visit highlighted the Indian Army’s continued focus on maintaining tactical superiority and high alertness in one of the most sensitive regions in Jammu and Kashmir. Bimber Gali serves as a key junction in the Poonch district and has witnessed over 100 ceasefire violations since the 2021 agreement, according to recent military assessments.

Lt Gen Sharma interacted with soldiers across ranks, applauding their discipline, vigilance, and morale. He stressed the importance of sustained readiness and adaptive strategies to counter both conventional and asymmetric threats in the area. His message to the troops emphasized professionalism and the integration of modern warfare techniques.

The Ace of Spades Corps, known for its elite status and historic lineage tracing back to World War II naming traditions, played a central role in the operational briefing. The Corps remains a key asset in rapid deployment and high-stakes operations along the LoC.

Lt Gen Sharma’s experience, including his previous role as Director General of Information Warfare, brings a strategic blend of kinetic and non-kinetic approaches. This includes the integration of cyber, electronic, and psychological operations, a shift in doctrine also echoed in RAND Corporation study on India’s evolving defense strategies.

With regional tensions remaining high, the Indian Army continues to prioritize mission readiness, technological advancement, and soldier welfare as part of its long-term commitment to national security.
