All airports in India have been placed on high alert following an intelligence warning about a possible terror attack between September 22 and October 2, 2025. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has directed all stakeholders, including state police, airport operators, and airlines, to immediately strengthen surveillance and security across the country’s aviation network.
The advisory, issued on August 4, covers not only major airports but also airstrips, helipads, airfields, flying schools, and aviation training institutes. Sources told PTI that the alert is based on specific intelligence inputs linked to the activities of a Pakistani terror group. BCAS has ordered all agencies to maintain close coordination with the CISF, Intelligence Bureau, local police, and other security bodies to ensure any fresh intelligence is shared without delay.
Security measures have been intensified at all civil aviation facilities, with instructions for round-the-clock patrolling of terminals, parking zones, perimeters, and other sensitive areas. Additional checks will also be implemented on the cityside of airports in coordination with local police forces. For domestic and international airline operators, strict screening of all cargo, mail, and parcels has been made mandatory before loading onto flights.
The advisory also calls for rigorous ID verification of all staff, contractors, and visitors entering aviation premises. All CCTV systems must remain fully operational and under constant monitoring. The BCAS has stressed the importance of ensuring no lapses in preparedness during the heightened alert period.
With this directive, India’s entire aviation sector is gearing up for an extensive security drill to neutralise any potential threat, ensuring the safety of passengers, airport staff, and infrastructure nationwide.
