The Indian Army on Friday stepped in to assist civil authorities after the fourth Tawi Bridge in Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, sustained damage due to relentless rains in the region.
According to officials, Army engineers have been deployed on site to carry out urgent repairs after cracks appeared on the bridge, which serves as a vital traffic link for the city. The damage led to disruptions in smooth vehicular movement, raising concerns about connectivity and public safety.
The Army teams, working in coordination with local authorities, have begun efforts on a war footing to stabilize the structure and restore safe passage for vehicles at the earliest.
In the meantime, traffic diversions have been put in place to manage congestion and prevent accidents until the bridge is fully operational again.
The intervention highlights the Army’s continued role in providing assistance during civil emergencies and ensuring public safety in times of crisis.
