Lieutenant General VPS Kaushik, Adjutant General of the Indian Army, met with Justice V. Ramasubramanian, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), on 26 September 2025 to discuss key issues related to the promotion and protection of human rights.
During the meeting, both leaders engaged in a constructive dialogue on strengthening cooperation between the Indian Army and NHRC in safeguarding human rights, especially in sensitive and operational environments. Lt Gen Kaushik underscored the Armyโs steadfast commitment to ensuring that the highest standards of human dignity and humanitarian values are maintained while fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.
Marking a significant milestone, the Adjutant General presented the inaugural issue of the Indian Armyโs Human Rights Bulletin to the NHRC Chairman. The publication highlights the Armyโs continued efforts to integrate human rights awareness into its training, operations, and community engagement initiatives reflecting the ethos of an army that not only defends the nationโs borders but also respects the rights and dignity of all individuals.
Lt Gen Kaushik was accompanied by Major General Anand Saxena, Additional Director General of Human Rights, who elaborated on ongoing initiatives and collaborative measures being undertaken by the Indian Army to uphold human rights across its areas of operation.
This engagement reinforces the Indian Armyโs broader vision of being a professional, people-centric force, deeply committed to constitutional principles, rule of law, and the protection of fundamental rights.
