COAS Highlights Academia-Military Synergy at T-SATS to Drive Defence Innovation

At the ongoing Tri-Services Academia Technology Symposium (T-SATS), Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi emphasised the need to invest in niche technologies and harness the untapped potential of academia-military collaboration to meet the demands of future warfare.

He revealed that over 450 research proposals have already been submitted on the newly launched T-SATS portal, of which nearly 40% have been shortlisted for guidance by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). General Dwivedi underlined the importance of building technology clusters, encouraging internships, and setting up defence incubation cells across the country to foster an ecosystem of innovation.

The Army Chief reiterated that academia, startups, and the defence sector must work together to co-create indigenous solutions tailored for operational needs. He stressed that innovation at scale, supported by structured collaboration, would ensure Indiaโ€™s sustained technological edge in a rapidly changing security environment.
