In a heartfelt recognition of exemplary service beyond the uniform, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi presented the Veteran Achievers Award to three distinguished veterans during the Retiring Officers Seminar held in New Delhi.
The award celebrates the continuing contributions of veterans who have dedicated themselves to social, educational, and community causes, carrying forward the ethos of selfless service.
Brigadier Kuldip Singh Gulia (Retd), a passionate trekker, scholar, and author, was honoured for his multifaceted achievements. Post-retirement, he directed schools in Haryana, authored three books, edited two encyclopaedias, and undertook challenging treks across the Himalayas and Aravallis—including a 114-km walk commemorating Infantry Day 2024—dedicating his endeavours to the nation and the soldiering spirit.
Colonel Avdhesh Kumar (Retd) was recognised for championing physical fitness and wellness. A Certified Master Instructor in Chi-Running/Walking, he has conducted 65 lectures and 85 workshops for more than 13,200 participants across premier training institutions, significantly promoting fitness, injury prevention, and holistic health among soldiers and families.
Subedar & Honorary Captain Ravinder Singh Yadav (Retd) received the award for his outstanding community initiative in Kyampur Chhavni, Gazipur District. By proposing and partially funding a bridge over the Maghai River, he enabled safe access to schools, healthcare, and essential services for 50 villages and more than 70,000 people, reflecting his enduring commitment to public service.
The recognition of these veterans not only honours their achievements but also reaffirms the Indian Army’s deep respect for its retired fraternity, whose efforts continue to inspire society and strengthen the bond between the Army and the people.
