The mortal remains of Officer Cadet S Balu, who tragically lost his life during training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, were brought to his native city of Thiruvananthapuram last night.
The body was received with full military honours at Pangode Military Station, where senior officials laid wreaths on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, the General Officer Commanding Kerala and Karnataka Sub Area, and the Station Commander of Pangode Military Station.
Representing the state government, Thiruvananthapuram District Collector Anukumari IAS laid wreaths on behalf of the Chief Minister. The cremation with full military honours will take place at Santhi Kavadam, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram.
Lieutenant General Nagendra Singh, AVSM, YSM, SM, Commandant of the Indian Military Academy, also paid homage to the young cadet. In a message of condolence, he said the IMA and the Indian Army stand firmly with the bereaved family during this tragic hour.
