In a significant outreach initiative aimed at improving the health and well-being of remote communities, a medical camp was organised in Moradbagh and nearby villages of Mushkoh Valley, Ladakh, under the aegis of Operation Sadbhavana. The camp focused primarily on the healthcare needs of women and children living in these remote and often underserved regions.

More than 150 patients, including over 120 women, received free medical consultation, essential medicines, and health check-ups during the camp. The initiative was particularly crucial for women and children, who often face limited access to healthcare facilities due to challenging terrain and harsh climatic conditions in the high-altitude region. The event not only addressed immediate medical needs but also spread awareness about preventive healthcare practices and maternal and child health.

Operation Sadbhavana – A Bridge of Trust and Care

Operation Sadbhavana (Goodwill) is a flagship humanitarian initiative of the Indian Army in Ladakh, designed to foster stronger civil-military relations and support the socio-economic development of remote and border communities. Launched in the late 1990s, the operation goes beyond traditional military duties to focus on education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, infrastructure development, and community engagement.

Under the initiative, the Army regularly conducts medical camps, builds schools, provides scholarships, and facilitates vocational training to uplift the local population. These sustained efforts have significantly contributed to improving the quality of life in isolated areas and strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and the people of Ladakh.

The medical camp was organised by the Fire & Fury Corps of the Indian Army the formation responsible for defending India’s northernmost frontiers in Ladakh, including the sensitive Line of Control (LoC) and Line of Actual Control (LAC). Known for operating in some of the most inhospitable terrains and extreme altitudes in the world, the Fire & Fury Corps plays a crucial dual role: safeguarding the nation’s borders and extending a helping hand to local communities.
