Jharkhand marked a historic milestone today as it hosted its first-ever defence exhibition, the East Tech Symposium 2025, at the Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium, Khelgaon, Ranchi. The three-day event positions the mineral-rich state as an emerging hub for defence collaboration, industrial development, and strategic innovation in eastern India.
The symposium was inaugurated by Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, in the presence of Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, senior military officials, and leaders from India’s defence industry.

Jharkhand’s Strategic Leap into Defence Manufacturing
Speaking at the inauguration, CM Hemant Soren called the event a “historic step” in integrating Jharkhand into India’s defence ecosystem. Highlighting the state’s mineral wealth and industrial potential, he said the initiative would boost defence preparedness while creating avenues for industrial expansion and youth employment.
Union MoS for Defence Sanjay Seth emphasised that organising such a landmark event in Ranchi reflects the government’s vision of “Defence Manufacturing for Atmanirbhar Bharat.” He underlined the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to decentralising defence production and encouraging more states to participate in the sector.

Cutting-Edge Technology & Tactical Innovation on Display
The exhibition features advanced defence technologies, equipment, and innovations from top Indian defence firms, research institutions, and startups. CM Soren personally toured the display area, interacting with defence personnel and examining modern weapon systems, symbolising the state’s active engagement with the sector.
The symposium serves as a platform for defence officials, policymakers, industrialists, and academia to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and explore opportunities for technology transfer, joint ventures, and skill development.

Boosting Youth, Industry & Regional Growth
With participation from educational institutions and technical universities, the event provides students direct exposure to defence experts and cutting-edge technologies. Organisers expect the symposium to open new opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment in Jharkhand, reinforcing eastern India’s role in national defence production.
Towards a Stronger & Self-Reliant India
The East Tech Symposium 2025 underscores India’s push to strengthen indigenous defence capabilities while fostering regional development. For Jharkhand, it marks the beginning of a new era in industrial growth, positioning the state as a key player in India’s strategic and defence future.
