Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (Army Commander) of the Northern Command, visited Army units in Akhnoor and interacted with troops, lauding their exemplary performance in both operational and humanitarian roles.
During his visit, Lt Gen Sharma praised the soldiers for their resilient action and swift response during the recent Jammu floods, where Army units carried out large-scale Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations. The timely evacuation of civilians, provision of medical aid, and restoration of essential services earned widespread appreciation from local communities, showcasing the Armyโs role as a pillar of support in times of crisis.
The Army Commander also commended all ranks for their unwavering commitment to maintaining high levels of operational preparedness, even while simultaneously undertaking relief efforts under demanding circumstances. He highlighted that the ability of the troops to balance combat readiness with humanitarian responsibilities reflects the professionalism and discipline of the Indian Army.
Addressing the troops, Lt Gen Sharma emphasized the importance of sustained vigilance along the Line of Control and in hinterland areas, underscoring that peace and stability can only be preserved through constant alertness, teamwork, and strong morale.
