The Rashtrapati Bhavan has announced that the ceremonial Change of Guard will not be held on September 13, 20, and 27, 2025. The weekly military tradition has been put on hold as the President’s Bodyguard prepares for a special diamond jubilee event.
According to an official statement, the Ceremonial Battalion will be engaged in rehearsals for the presentation of the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the President’s Bodyguard. The prestigious event will take place at the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, with ceremonial details to be announced in due course.
The Change of Guard ceremony, usually held every Saturday, is a long-standing tradition where a fresh contingent of the President’s Bodyguard takes over duties. The event, lasting around 90 minutes, is a popular attraction for visitors to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
This year, the focus will be on the diamond jubilee presentation of the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner—symbols of honour and service—which will be formally handed over by the President of India to the President’s Bodyguard. Following the parade, an audio-visual presentation will highlight the history and significance of the tradition and the evolving role of the President’s Bodyguard.
The Change of Guard ceremony will resume after the conclusion of the scheduled presentation and rehearsals.
