During a routine cleaning drive of Dal Lake on Saturday, officials from the Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) discovered the remains of a shell linked to Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

The shell remnants were found near Oont Kadal, a site previously impacted during the May 10, 2025, incident when a missile-like object landed in the lake, causing explosions that shook Srinagar. The recovered remains were promptly transported to the nearest police station for further examination and necessary action.

Operation Sindoor, conducted in May 2025, was a decisive Indian response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed 26 lives. The recent recovery serves as a reminder of the operation’s intensity and underscores the ongoing need for vigilance and careful management of affected areas.
