667 Army Aviation Squadron (R&O) emerged as the winner in the single-engine category, while 207 Army Aviation Squadron (UH) claimed the top honour in the twin-engine category.

In a significant recognition of excellence and dedication towards aviation safety, General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), presented the prestigious โ€˜COAS Flight Safety Trophyโ€™ during the ongoing Army Commandersโ€™ Conference (ACC). The event celebrated the relentless efforts of Indian Army Aviation units and personnel who ensure the highest standards of safety and reliability in flight operations.

The COAS Flight Safety Trophy was instituted to acknowledge and reward the outstanding contributions of individuals and teams committed to flight safety a cornerstone of operational effectiveness and mission success. The award not only underscores the Indian Armyโ€™s unwavering emphasis on safety protocols but also inspires aviation units to continually raise their operational standards.

In his address, General Upendra Dwivedi lauded the efforts of all participating units and highlighted that flight safety remains a collective responsibility, demanding precision, discipline, and continuous vigilance. He reiterated that every safe sortie contributes directly to the Armyโ€™s operational readiness and mission success.

To ensure a level playing field and fair evaluation, the competition was categorised into two segments based on aircraft type single-engine and twin-engine helicopter units. This classification allowed each unit to compete within its operational context, reflecting the unique challenges and parameters of their respective platforms.

After a comprehensive assessment of flight operations, safety procedures, and adherence to protocols, 667 Army Aviation Squadron (R&O) emerged as the winner in the single-engine category, while 207 Army Aviation Squadron (UH) claimed the top honour in the twin-engine category.

The COAS Flight Safety Trophy represents more than just a recognition it stands as a testament to the Indian Armyโ€™s aviation communityโ€™s steadfast dedication to professionalism, operational discipline, and safety-first ethos.
