Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (CinCAN), paid his maiden visit to New Delhi and called on Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), on 07 October 2025. Upon his arrival, Vice Admiral Kochhar was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the South Block Lawns, symbolising the strong spirit of camaraderie and jointness within the Indian Armed Forces.
Focus on Operational Readiness and Strategic Priorities
During the meeting, CinCAN briefed the CNS on the current operational preparedness and ongoing engagements of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), Indiaโs only tri-service theatre command.
He highlighted several administrative, infrastructural, and capability enhancement initiatives aimed at strengthening Indiaโs strategic presence in the Indo-Pacific region. These initiatives are crucial for ensuring the operational effectiveness of the ANC, which plays a vital role in safeguarding Indiaโs maritime frontiers and projecting power across critical sea lanes.
Enhancing Maritime Security and Regional Presence
The discussions also covered emerging security challenges in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and strategies to bolster maritime domain awareness.
Both leaders deliberated on measures to enhance the Indian Navyโs overall presence in the strategically significant Andaman and Nicobar region, ensuring that India remains well-prepared to protect and promote its maritime interests Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow.
The visit underscores the continued emphasis on strengthening joint operational capabilities and improving Indiaโs maritime posture in the region, aligning with the nationโs broader security and strategic objectives.
