The Central Air Command (CAC) conducted its Annual Aerospace Safety Seminar and Council Meeting (AASCM) 2025 at Air Force Station Agra on the theme โRole of Cognitive Factors in Enhancing Aerospace Safety.โ
The seminar was presided over by Air Marshal Makarand Bhaskar Ranade, AVSM, VM, Director General (Inspection and Safety), Indian Air Force, and witnessed participation from field commanders, Aerospace Safety officers of all CAC airbases, the Chief Manager Flight Operations and Safety (HAL), a Colonel from Army Aviation (HQ Central Command), and several online delegates from across the CAC Area of Responsibility.

The keynote address was delivered by Air Marshal P.V. Shivanand, AVSM, VM, Senior Air Staff Officer, HQ Central Air Command, who underlined the importance of proactive safety culture and continuous human-factor training to sustain operational excellence.

A comprehensive review and analysis of aerospace safety trends were presented by Air Commodore Vinay Pratap Singh, VM, Air Commodore Aerospace Safety, Directorate of Aerospace Safety, Air HQ, and Group Captain Yogendra Dhankar, Command Aerospace Safety and Inspection Officer, HQ CAC.

The seminar featured three insightful technical sessions focusing on Mindfulness, the Influence of Human Factors in Aircraft Maintenance, and the Changing Cognitive Roles of Pilots โ all aimed at understanding how cognitive awareness can enhance flight and maintenance safety.
In his concluding address, Air Marshal Ranade emphasised the effective utilisation of cognitive and psychological factors to reduce human error and strengthen the Indian Air Forceโs commitment to zero-accident operations.
