Continuing their International Strategic Management Tour (ISMT) in Spain, the Future Strategic Leaders from the College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad, under the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), visited several premier military institutions of Spain. The tour aimed to foster academic and strategic collaboration while deepening India’s defence diplomacy with European partners.
Visit to Spanish Defence Institutions
The delegation visited the Defence Higher Education Centre (CESEDEN) — Spain’s apex military education institution responsible for developing senior defence leadership. At CESEDEN, the officers interacted with senior faculty and exchanged views on strategic management, leadership development, and inter-service integration in modern military frameworks.
The tour also included visits to the Spanish Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery Command and the Spanish Air & Space Force Command, where officers gained first-hand exposure to Spain’s advanced air defence doctrines, command structures, and training methodologies. These engagements provided valuable insights into Spain’s approach to defence technology, airspace management, and modern warfare readiness.
Strengthening Bilateral Defence Cooperation
The delegation’s interaction with senior military leadership of the Spanish Armed Forces further highlighted shared perspectives on peacekeeping, technology integration, and operational coordination. Both sides acknowledged the growing potential for cooperation in defence education, joint training, and strategic research.
The visit stood as a powerful testament to India–Spain Defence Diplomacy, reinforcing mutual goals of peace, stability, and progress. It also underscored India’s commitment to expanding international defence partnerships that contribute to collective security and leadership development.
Leadership and Strategic Engagement
The ISMT serves as an essential component of CDM’s curriculum, designed to broaden the strategic vision of officers by exposing them to global defence management practices and cross-cultural defence ecosystems. Through such engagements, India’s Future Strategic Leaders continue to strengthen their understanding of international strategic relations, preparing to contribute effectively to the nation’s evolving defence strategy.
