Four UKNA Insurgents Neutralised in Operation Khanpi, Manipur

In a swift and decisive counter-insurgency action, Security Forces neutralised four armed cadres of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), a non-Suspension of Operations (non-SOO) insurgent group, during an intelligence-based operation in the early hours of 4 November 2025 at Khanpi village, approximately 80 kilometres west of Churachandpur, Manipur.

Terrorists Open Fire on Army Column

According to official sources, while the Army column was conducting a search operation in the area, the terrorists opened unprovoked fire on the troops. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued between the Security Forces and the insurgents, resulting in the neutralisation of four UKNA cadres.

Operation Ongoing in Challenging Terrain

The operation is still in progress, with extensive search operations continuing in the adjoining forested areas to eliminate any remaining hostile elements and recover weapons or warlike stores. The region’s difficult terrain and thick foliage make the ongoing mission particularly challenging.

Response to Recent UKNA Atrocities

This operation comes in the wake of recent atrocities committed by UKNA cadres, including the killing of a village chief, intimidation of local residents, and attempts to disrupt peace and stability in the region. The successful action is viewed as a strong message against insurgent violence and interference with efforts to restore normalcy in Manipur.

Commitment to Peace and Civilian Safety

The Indian Army and Assam Rifles reaffirmed their commitment to protecting innocent civilians, upholding law and order, and ensuring the restoration of peace in the disturbed areas. The neutralisation of these terrorists highlights the forces’ operational effectiveness and resolve to counter any threat to regional stability.
