According to official statements from the IAF, the Tejas aircraft appeared to lose control during its display, descending rapidly toward the ground and erupting into a fireball upon impact. Eyewitness accounts described thick black smoke billowing from the crash site, with the wreckage left charred and mangled. Emergency response teams from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the situation, and no injuries were reported among spectators or ground personnel.

The Tejas, an indigenously developed single-engine fighter jet manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), was participating in the airshow to showcase India’s advancements in aviation technology. This marks the second reported crash involving a Tejas aircraft, following an incident near Jaisalmer, India, in March 2024, where the pilot ejected safely. Aerial demonstrations at the airshow were temporarily suspended following the crash but resumed approximately two hours later.

The UAE authorities have assured full cooperation with the ongoing investigation, emphasizing the rapid response of firefighting and emergency services. Further details on the cause of the accident are awaited as the inquiry progresses. The nation mourns the loss of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, whose service exemplifies dedication to India’s defense capabilities.
