Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, AVSM, NM, today assumed charge as the Chief of Personnel (COP) at the Naval Headquarters, New Delhi.
An accomplished Gunnery and Missiles specialist, Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1990. Over his distinguished career spanning more than three decades, he has commanded frontline warships including the Missile Vessel INS Vidyut, Missile Corvette INS Khukri, and the Guided Missile Destroyer INS Kochi.

The Flag Officer has held several key operational and staff appointments, such as Assistant Chief of Personnel (Human Resource Development), Controller of Personnel Services (CPS) at Naval Headquarters, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF), and Commandant of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla.
A recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Nao Sena Medal (NM) for distinguished service, Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh brings with him vast operational experience and a proven record of leadership across diverse naval domains.
His appointment as Chief of Personnel underscores the Navyโs commitment to fostering professional excellence, personnel welfare, and human resource development as critical pillars of its operational effectiveness.
