Vice Admiral K. Srinivas assumed charge as the Director General Naval Projects (DGNP), Visakhapatnam, on 1 November 2025, following the completion of his tenure as Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam. Commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1990, Vice Admiral K. Srinivas is an alumnus of Sainik School, Korukonda, and the National Defence Academy (NDA). A seasoned officer with over three decades of distinguished service, he has held numerous key operational and technical appointments that have contributed to the Navyโs modernization and self-reliance initiatives.
Extensive Experience in Warship Operations and Maintenance
During his illustrious career, Vice Admiral Srinivas has served extensively at sea, including aboard the erstwhile Aircraft Carrier INS Viraat, in various operational roles. His tenure as Warship Production Superintendent at Severodvinsk, Russia, was pivotal in overseeing the repair and re-equipping of INS Vikramaditya, a major acquisition that significantly enhanced Indiaโs naval aviation capabilities.
Command and Key Appointments
He has previously served as Principal Director Fleet Maintenance at Naval Headquarters (NHQ), where he played a crucial role in managing the upkeep and operational readiness of the Navyโs fleet assets. He also commanded INS Shivaji, the Indian Navyโs premier technical training establishment at Lonavla, where he led significant advancements in marine engineering training and technological innovation.
Before assuming charge as DGNP (Vizag), Vice Admiral Srinivas served as the Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyard and Refit), overseeing vital aspects of naval maintenance and ship repair operations across multiple dockyards.
