Innovation driven by battlefield experience has once again strengthened India’s defence preparedness, as Lt Col Velmurugan of the Golden Arrow Division was felicitated at InnoYoddha 2025 for his pioneering contribution to military engineering.
The officer has developed the Man-Portable Composite Frame System, a breakthrough solution designed to significantly enhance modular assault bridges by reducing overall weight while improving structural strength. The innovation has now been selected by the Army Design Bureau (ADB) for advanced research and development, paving the way for its future induction into the Indian Army.
Celebrating the achievement, Vajra Corps highlighted the milestone as a powerful example of soldier-led innovation, where frontline operational experience blends with technical expertise to create mission-ready systems.
The recognition underscores India’s push toward Atmanirbharta in defence manufacturing and reflects the momentum of the nation’s ongoing Decade of Transformation, driven by indigenous ideas emerging directly from the troops who serve on the frontlines.
