Rear Admiral Iftekhar Alam has assumed charge as the Additional Director General of the Warship Design Bureau (WDB) at New Delhi, marking a significant appointment in the Indian Navyโs ship design and capability development domain.
Commissioned into the Indian Navy on 26 November 1994, Rear Admiral Alam brings with him rich operational, technical and command experience. He is an alumnus of the Naval College of Engineering, the Naval War College, Goa, and the National Defence College, Kenya.
An accomplished technologist, Rear Admiral Alam holds an M Tech and a PhD in Electronics and Telecommunication. Over the course of his career, he has held a wide range of afloat, staff, yard and command appointments, contributing extensively to warship engineering, systems integration and naval capability enhancement.
In his new role at the Warship Design Bureau, Rear Admiral Iftekhar Alam is expected to play a key role in advancing indigenous warship design, innovation and technology absorption in line with the Indian Navyโs vision of self-reliance and future-ready maritime power.
